Tonight members of the Greenwood Fire and Rescue did our monthly training! Tonight consisted of SCBA use, search and rescue, and decontamination. Members had to utilize different methods of making themselves go through tight spaces. We all would also like to say a very large thank you to our mutual aid neighbors over at Norway Fire Department the assistance from Alex and Lucas was extremely appreciated! We look forward to future trainings with all of our mutual aid partners!

With the forecasted weather for tonight we wanted to reach out with the following information.

The National Weather Service is forecasting showers and thunderstorms in our area, with the potential for heavy rain, strong wind gusts, and localized power outages. Residents are encouraged to prepare now before the weather arrive.

Please take a few minutes today to:
- Secure or put away any loose outdoor items such as lawn furniture, grills, trash cans, toys, and decorations that could become airborne in strong winds.
- Check that your flashlights have fresh batteries and that you have extra batteries on hand.
- Test your generator to ensure it is operating properly, and make sure you have fuel available if it is safe to do so.
- Charge cell phones and other essential electronic devices before the storm arrives.

If an emergency situation occurs you can call for help through 9-1-1

Local emergency officials will be monitoring the situation overnight and doing the best they can to keep the roads open!

If you come across downed power lines you should always assume they are live and keep your distance from them.

As always, please use caution while traveling during periods of heavy rain or strong winds, and never drive through flooded roadways.
