After nearly 29 years of dedicated service, Lieutenant Scott Tompkins will officially retire from the City of Greer Fire Department on June 3, 2026.
Lieutenant Tompkins began serving the community as a volunteer firefighter in July 1996 before joining the department full-time in 2000. Throughout his career, he has been a consistent and respected presence within the department, demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to the citizens of Greer.
On Friday evening, members of C-Shift gathered at the station to honor Lieutenant Tompkins’ retirement, sharing stories, memories, and appreciation for the lasting impact he has had on so many throughout the years.
Lieutenant Tompkins was also recognized at the recent City Council meeting by Mayor Danner, City Council, and City Administrator Andy Merriman in acknowledgment of his many years of faithful service and dedication to the community.
The City of Greer Fire Department extends its sincere gratitude to Lieutenant Tompkins for his nearly 29 years of service and unwavering commitment to both the fire service and the Greer community. We wish him and his family continued happiness and fulfillment in retirement. Congratulations, Lieutenant Tompkins!
