When you look at the numbers, Groesbeck’s workforce isn’t quite what many people picture. It’s a fairly even mix, but with an unexpected lean - about 40% white collar, 31% blue collar, and 28% service. Our largest industries span from health care and public administration to construction, manufacturing, and retail.
The commute patterns add another layer. Because the city limits fit inside such a small radius, a less-than-5-minute commute almost always means someone lives in town. The 5–9-minute commutes tend to be people just outside the limits, still very close.
So even though many of the people who work here don’t technically live “in town,” they’re only a few minutes away. Groesbeck ends up functioning as a small employment center for the immediate area, which quietly suggests a few possibilities - things like more in-town housing and supports that make everyday life easier for local families and workers.
Sometimes the data shows things we kind of knew already - just with a little more clarity.
