The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a Warehouse Inventory Specialist to help keep our equipment, uniforms, supplies, and assets in order, properly recorded, and ready to go!

This is more than just moving boxes around a storage room. You’ll be the person who knows where the equipment is, where it came from, and where it’s going next.(the keeper of all things, really)

From conducting inventories throughout the agency and tracking assets to issuing uniforms and keeping it all properly recorded, you’ll play a key role in keeping everyone dressed to impress and properly equipped for their specific duties.

So if you relate to the following, definitely apply today:
- Likes to keep things in order and overall organized
- General knowledge of computers (well enough to keep records)
- Wants to work in a fun environment with the most delightful co-workers

50 good deeds and this was one of them. We would like to say thank you to the family of Cindy Walley who showed up today with food for us all in honor of Cindy’s 50th birthday. Cindy gave a lot of her years to Harrison County and is missed beyond words.

***UPDATE****
- Roadway closed at Jim Lee Road and Old Hwy 49
- Shaw Road at the bridge
- Bells Ferry Road (which is already closed for construction)
- Cable Bridge Road at the bridge

We sent Investigator Moskowitz out to report back about any flooding with all this rain. He is boots on the ground to make sure he can give the most up to date info. If we get any road closures we will update the post here. But a couple reminders:

- turn around, don’t drown
- the beach is currently on Hwy 90(yes, ON Hwy 90) in multiple areas so just don’t go that way
- slow down on the wet roads and get where you need to be safely

We will be sure to update if any areas start closing due to flooding.

Congratulations to Deputy Daniel Gilkerson on receiving Employee of the Month!

Deputy Gilkerson was actually nominated by a co-worker on shift after watching Deputy Gilkerson interact with and console a child on the scene of the call. Deputy Gilkerson took the time to make sure the child was able to calm down and be comforted even though there was a lot going on. In this career, we often see people on their worst days and that can be especially frightening for children, so it is not easy to make light of some of these situations.

Thank you Deputy Gilkerson for showing so much compassion to some of the most vulnerable and impressionable people in our community. Congrats!

You know we love a good opportunity to point out a terrible scam attempt. Luckily, we got a new flyer this week to review!

Starting out strong with Commonwealth of Mississippi --- this is not a thing! There is only 4 states that use "Commonwealth" in their official title. (Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia)

The year 1792 is not the year Mississippi became the 20th state, it was actually 1817.

Civil Traffic is not a thing - you have either a civil dispute/issue or a traffic ticket. They are actually entirely different courts.

Mississippi District Court -- you guessed it! Not a thing.

Thank you to everyone who sent this flyer so that we could critique it and get the word out! We are giving this scam attempt a 3 out of 10, so share the word and help keep a friend from losing some money.

On Thursday, May 7,2026, Sheriff Matt Haley announced the arrest of 19-year-old Princeton Dunn of McHenry, MS, 17-year-old Billy Gray of Gulfport, MS, and 16-year-old Jermiah Agee of Biloxi, MS. Dunn, Agee, and Gray were each charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

According to Sheriff Haley, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 19000 block of Palmer Creek Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Deputies located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was last listed as critical condition. Through the investigation, Dunn, Gray, and Agee were identified, located, and arrested.

Dunn, Gray, and Agee were each charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Each of them were transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Dunn was issued a $500,000 bond per Judge Theressia Lyons. Gray and Agee were each issued a $500,000 bond per Judge Brandon Ladner.

Thank you to each and every person that assisted in identifying, locating, and arresting the individuals involved in this incident. Violent crime is a continually growing issue, and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office will continue to do the work necessary to hold those involved accountable.

This week is Correctional Officer Appreciation Week. We want to take a moment to highlight our Corrections Division for all the hard work they do for this agency.

Did you know the Harrison County Jail intakes over 10,000 inmates yearly? That is over 10,000 people they interact with. Just because you often don't see our Corrections Deputies because they work within the walls of the Harrison County Jail does not mean they are not making an impact on our community.

Their job is a very stressful one. They often do not get the opportunity to "take a breather" during the shift or isolate themselves if they are having a bad day. This is a job that requires each and every person on shift, and our men and women show up and get the job done.

So THANK YOU for everything you do for our agency and our community. It does not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to Chrissie Hatton on receiving the Crisis Intervention Team Telecommunicator of the Year Award at the NAMI Conference!

This award was created for a telecommunicator that displayed outstanding performance in managing crisis-related calls. Chrissie is a CIT trained telecommunicator and often uses her communication and de-escalation skills to bring a calmness to a stressful situation.

A recent example of this would be Chrissie talking to a caller who has intending to harm themselves with a firearm. Chrissie maintained calm communication, showed compassion, and it all ultimately resulted in a peaceful resolution.

Thank you for the hard work, Chrissie! You are an asset to this agency and our community!
