It’s Right-of-Way Professionals Week, and we’re proud to celebrate the dedicated crews in Mississippi who work every day to keep our electric system safe, dependable, and resilient. In every season and in all kinds of conditions, these professionals maintain the rights‑of‑way that make it possible to deliver reliable power to homes, businesses, and communities across our service area. Much of their work happens out of sight, but the benefits are felt everywhere. To our right‑of‑way professionals: thank you for your dedication, your expertise, and your steadfast service to Mississippians!

Congratulations to the Ole Miss Rebels on punching their ticket back to Omaha and the College World Series! What an incredible accomplishment for this team, coaching staff, and the entire Rebel Nation. The road to Omaha is never easy, and this team has shown the grit, determination, and resilience that Ole Miss fans have come to expect. Mississippi is proud of you! We’ll be cheering you on as you compete on college baseball’s biggest stage. Best of luck in Omaha—bring another championship home to the Magnolia State!

Please use extra caution if you’re traveling along the Mississippi Gulf Coast today. Heavy rain has caused flooding on several roadways, and conditions can change quickly. Never drive through standing water you may not be able to tell how deep it is or if the road beneath has been damaged. Slow down, allow extra travel time, and stay alert for road closures and emergency crews working in affected areas. Your safety is more important than getting somewhere a few minutes sooner. Please stay safe, check on your neighbors, and avoid unnecessary travel if conditions worsen.

D-Day – June 6, 1944

Today we remember the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering determination of the men who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago. More than 156,000 Allied troops crossed the English Channel and faced impossible odds in the fight to preserve freedom. Over 4,400 Allied soldiers gave their lives on D-Day. Thousands more were wounded. Their bravery helped change the course of history and secured liberty for generations to come. As we enjoy the freedoms we have today, let us never forget the price that was paid by the Greatest Generation. Freedom is not inherited automatically—it is preserved by those willing to sacrifice for something greater than themselves. Please join me in honoring the heroes of D-Day and remembering those who never made it home.

“Freedom wasn’t free. These men paid the price.” 🇺🇸

Our prayers are with the injured deputy, all first responders involved, the families affected by this tragedy, and the community during this difficult time. We are thankful that the deputy’s injuries were reported as non-life-threatening and pray for a full recovery. Incidents like this remind us of the risks our law enforcement officers face every day as they work to protect our communities. As the investigation continues, I encourage everyone to allow the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation to complete its work and determine all the facts. Please join me in praying for those impacted and for the safety of all law enforcement officers across Mississippi.

“FALSE Information ALERT” (more info in the comments) Clarion Ledger

The headline being shared is simply not true. The Mississippi Public Service Commission has not ruled to allow developers to build private power for AI data centers without utility regulation. No such ruling has been made by the PSC. As with many complex energy issues, it is important that the public receive accurate information rather than misleading headlines that create confusion. The PSC’s responsibility is to follow the law, protect ratepayers, and ensure reliable and affordable utility service for Mississippians. Before accepting sensational headlines at face value, I encourage everyone to look at the actual facts and official actions taken by the Commission. Mississippians deserve facts.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of State Representative Price Wallace. Representative Wallace faithfully served the people of Mississippi with integrity, humility, and a genuine commitment to public service. Throughout his years of service, he earned the respect of colleagues on both sides of the aisle through his dedication to the people he represented and his love for our state. Price Wallace was more than a public servant. He was a leader, and a man who cared deeply about his community. His contributions to Mississippi will not be forgotten, and his legacy of service will continue to impact our state for years to come. Please join me in praying for his family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him during this difficult time.

Yesterday, fast-moving storms swept across Mississippi, leaving thousands of residents without power. While significant progress has been made, nearly 2,000 residents are still waiting for service to be restored. I want to take a moment to thank the linemen, utility crews, dispatchers, and support personnel who have been working around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. These men and women often work long hours in difficult conditions, away from their families, to serve ours. Please continue to be patient as crews complete the remaining restoration efforts, and keep these workers in your prayers as they work to safely return power to every home and business affected by the storms. Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to the people of Mississippi.
