As you celebrate with family and friends, please help us keep our community safe this holiday.
✅ Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby. ✅ Light one firework at a time. ✅ Never allow young children to handle fireworks. ✅ Never relight a firework that doesn't go off. ✅ Keep spectators at a safe distance. ✅ Soak used fireworks in water before throwing them away. ✅ Keep pets indoors—they can be frightened by loud noises. ✅ If you choose to use fireworks, follow all local laws and use them responsibly.

As summer arrives and outdoor activities increase, Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Company reminds everyone to practice safe campfire habits.
A campfire can create lasting memories with family and friends, but an unattended fire can quickly become an emergency.
Before lighting your next campfire, remember to:
✅ Keep fires at least 15 feet away from tents, vehicles, trees, and structures.
✅ Never leave a campfire unattended.
✅ Keep water, a shovel, or a fire extinguisher nearby.
✅ Only burn approved firewood.
✅ Keep campfires small and manageable.
✅ Supervise children and pets at all times.
✅ Completely extinguish your fire before leaving.

🚒 Remember: If it's too hot to touch, it's too hot to leave!
