Recently we had our Brush 61 undergo a couple of changes.

One of the problems with this skid unit we had purchased was the hose on the reel would touch the exhaust and blow holes in it while working.

Thanks to Tory at Reedy Services, he was able to fab up a frame, painted, mounted and relocated the hose reel from the top of the water tank to higher up where we don’t have to worry about that happening. He was also kind enough to service our pump while it was there too.

Also our friend Brian at Big Brand Tires for hooking us up with some new all terrain tires on this unit. No more highway slicks!

Rusk County Emergency Services District #1 graciously supplied us this truck back in 2021 and thanks to their funding and support we’ve been able to continuously improve on it.

Well what started out as a “please don’t burn” Facebook post with our current weather conditions has now turned into a “we are under a burn ban” post.

As of 25 minutes ago, Rusk County Commissioners Court met and decided to implement a burn ban county wide due to the ongoing conditions of low temperatures and humidity with high winds. That right there is the perfect “grass fires gonna eat” combination.

Boil Water Notice for customers of the Mount Enterprise Water System due to a short term pressure loss. Once tests clear the water we will post notice of it.

Roadways are still extremely slick, if you don’t need to be out, stay home. Slide offs are causing road hazards.

Just a reminder with all the ice forming on the roadways throughout Rusk County, please do not get out and drive. If you have to get out please do so in safe same manner at slow speeds and not recklessly. Stay indoors stay warm. Also, multiple fire departments and road workers with TxDOT and County Precincts are out and about working on clearing the roadways from debris and trees. Please be mindful of them.

Yes the warnings continue. With our current conditions it does not take grass or woods fires long to become out of control. Low humidity and high winds are peak wildfire conditions and what they thrive on. Please do not burn until we are out of this. Multiple fire departments in Rusk County Emergency Services District #1 have worked to put out multiple wild fires over the last few days.

Due to increased winds and low humidity values, outdoor burning is discouraged for today. Remember, burn bans are also in effect across several counties and parishes in our region so always check with your local county or parish jurisdiction on the status of burn bans in your area.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY: Ranging between 20-30 percent.

* WIND: North to northwest winds from 10-20 mph with higher gusts
between 25-35 mph.

* FUELS: Dry to critically dry.

These conditions will support the spread of wildfires.

Outdoor burning and activities that involve open sparks or flames are discouraged.

Please report all wildfires to local law enforcement as soon as possible.

This weekend is Eastside Volunteer Fire Department annual fish fry fundraiser. They will have a raffle, if you would like to purchase a ticket you can contact them or us and we will help get you taken care of. Hope to see you all there!!

At approximately 4:18 this afternoon, Brush 61 responded with Mount Enterprise VFD, Eastside VFD, Cushing VFD, Lilbert-Looneyville VFD and Texas Forest Service to a 5 acre grass fire. Fire was started by power lines coming down setting the area around it on fire. With current conditions it did not take the fire long to jump the road and reach the 5 acres before units were able to arrive and stop it. Total in all Rusk County ESD #1 responded with 2 tenders and 4 brush truck and Departments from Nacogdoches responded with 3 tenders and 4 brush trucks. Just a reminder Rusk County is under a provisional burn ban at this time. Thank you to our neighbors down south for the assist.
