What a summer it's been at Hialeah Public Libraries! Our Summer Reading Challenge has come to an end, and we're taking a moment to thank everyone who read, participated, and made the library their second home this summer. We welcomed hundreds of participants throughout the summer.
All summer long, our young readers joined us for We the Readers storytime sessions, We the Artists art workshops, We the Innovators STEAM labs, and We the Moviegoers movie days, building a summer full of stories, creativity, and discovery.
We closed out the season with a few standout programs. The Museum of Discovery and Science brought their Geodome Planetarium to the library, giving many of our young readers their very first look at black holes, the planets, and the wonders of the universe. Later on, Suzy Hammer took the stage with "Stories, Music, and Magic with All-American Sue," bringing stories and magic tricks to the library before leading a flag-waving parade around the building to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. And at our Summer Closing Celebration, Fantasy Theatre Factory's "American Stories" brought history to life through a cast of characters led by a puppet Mark Twain and his companion Huck Finn, reminding us that this country was built by countless different stories, and that our young readers are part of that story too, theirs to shape.
