Did you know that we have a dive team that does search and recovery??? 🤿🚑🚨

A little bit about the team!

The HFD Dive Team was funded by the Jack Lewis Foundation grant in 2024. The growing team specializes in water search and recovery. This team is part of an ongoing effort to provide our district with trained personnel to respond to multiple types of incidents relevant to our needs.

Our Out-of-District Members (ODM) have been putting in a lot of hard work! 🚒

These dedicated ladies and gentlemen have been picking up shifts at the station during some of our busiest times, both day and night. They stay at the station and are ready to jump into action the moment a call comes in.

In addition to covering shifts, they have been spending time sharpening their skills and participating in training to ensure they are always prepared to respond in an emergency. Their commitment, dedication, and willingness to serve our community do not go unnoticed.

On Saturday, August 1st, the fire station will be hosting a Car Seat Check event put on by the Lancaster County Health Department.

This is a free event, but appointments are required. If you’d like to sign up, call the number listed on the flyer!

This was such a fun night!! ❤️

Our friends at the Hickman Rural Fire Department in Nebraska welcomed community members for an open house during CPR & AED Awareness Week.

Spearheaded by our Board Member and First Responder Committee lead, Brenna, the this fun and interactive family friendly evening featured tours of the fire station and an opportunity to learn hands only CPR. Children were able to sit in the fire trucks and ambulances, try on firefighter gear, and put out a fire!

Thank you to the Hickman Rural Fire Department for helping to change the 8% survival rate of cardiac arrest. We absolutely love our partnership.

Two rounds of strong/severe thunderstorms are expected today. The first round will move through the region this morning, bringing a chance for large hail and strong winds. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for several counties through 11AM.

A second round of thunderstorms is expected beginning around mid to late afternoon Saturday and continuing through the evening. Hail and wind will be the main concerns. An isolated tornado cannot be entirely ruled out for areas located in the Enhanced Risk area (orange).
