What a memorable day at Sand Creek Elementary! ☀️🦅 From Field Day fun and an amazing Jump Rope Club performance to Eagle Awards, PTO recognition, and celebrating Ms. Sposato’s incredible 26 years at SCE, the day was full of joy, connection, and celebration. 🎉

Today we honor and remember the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We are grateful for their sacrifice and the freedoms they protected.

We hope our SCE families enjoy a meaningful day filled with reflection, gratitude, and time together with loved ones. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our nation. 🇺🇸

The past couple of weeks, our students have been cashing in on the fun with Teacher Treats purchased during our PTO’s annual Spring Fling Fundraiser! 🎉💙

From Canvas & Cookies 🎨🍪 and Donuts with a Cop 🍩👮 to rides to school with our SRO 🚓, a staff vs. students kickball game ⚽, and an EPIC water balloon fight with Ms. Pekarek and Mrs. Anton 💦😄 — these experiences created unforgettable memories for our students!

✏️🦅Recently Sand Creek Elementary was honored to welcome Jackie Mader from The Hechinger Report all the way from Austin, Texas! Jackie visited DCSD to learn more about the incredible work happening around the Releasing Writers–SRSD writing framework and how it is transforming literacy instruction across our schools.

🏫 Sand Creek was proudly selected by our Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment team as one of three schools to showcase the success of this work in action. During her visit, Jackie observed kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms led by our amazing teachers and was blown away by the level of writing, collaboration, and student ownership happening at such a young age!

Our students confidently spoke about their learning using strategies like Power and TIDE as if it were their own language — a true reflection of the strong instruction and intentional learning happening every day at SCE. ✏️📚

We are so proud of the growth our students have made in writing this year and grateful to celebrate the incredible work of our teachers and learners alongside schools across DCSD! 🦅💙

🎓 Our 5th & 6th grade Gifted and Talented students took their learning to the next level by exploring different universities and colleges—and they loved it so much, they hosted their very own College Fair!

Students researched schools, shared fun facts, and presented what they learned with confidence and creativity. We are so proud of their hard work and future-focused thinking! 🌟📚✨

Sign up for Mr. Bolser's Summer Sports Camp -
Sports camp will run from 8:30 AM-3:30 PM Monday-Friday (June 8-12 and June 22-26) and include a variety of both traditional and non-traditional sports games, all aimed to develop individual skills and teamwork, but most importantly to be fun! Sports include tag games, dodgeball, basketball, hockey, baseball, and football.
STUDENTS MUST BRING:
• WATER
• LUNCH
• SNACKS
• SUNSCREEN

☀️🎉 Field Day is Almost Here! 🎉☀️

We’re excited to announce that Field Day will take place this Friday, May 22, from 9:30 a.m.–1:50 p.m.! Students will enjoy a day full of fun, teamwork, games, and outdoor activities as we celebrate an incredible school year together.

The excitement will continue with our end-of-the-year assembly featuring our amazing Jump Rope Club from 2:45–3:30 p.m. 🪢👏

This special day is one of our favorite traditions, and we look forward to celebrating with our students and families as we wrap up another fantastic year at SCE!
