Ethan Higa, GIS Program Director at Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi, recently attended the 2026 Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. Convening in Atlanta, Georgia.

The annual conference brought together legal practitioners, advocates, and nonprofit leaders from across the country to connect, learn, and gain insight into the current state of immigration law.

Mahalo to CLINIC for creating an opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and recognize the many contributions immigrants have made throughout our nation’s history.

Mahalo to our Community & Senior Services team members Judy Taketa, Mei Feng, and Marsman Alberto for representing Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi today at the Chinatown Kūpuna Preparedness Fair held at Hale Waiʻolu on River Street.

Nearly 100 seniors attended the event to learn more about disaster preparedness, emergency resources, and services available to support kūpuna in our community. The fair brought together trusted organizations and community partners to help seniors stay informed, connected, and prepared.

Events like this help strengthen community togetherness and ensure our kūpuna have access to important resources that promote safety, wellness, and peace of mind.

In 2025 alone, Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi has already supported more than 7,500 kūpuna across our islands through programs and services that help seniors stay connected, healthy, and active.

Mahalo to everyone who joined us earlier this week for the Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi Waiʻanae Housing Fair! 🏡💚

This year’s event grew from 20 vendors to 30 community partners, with 68 family households attending to connect with housing, legal, employment, health, and support resources.

Each family also received food through Paradise Chapel’s FoodBank distribution, while Makaha Community Center provided personal care essentials including toothpaste, Tylenol, deodorant, and laundry detergent.

Mahalo to all of our incredible partners and volunteers who came together to support local families and strengthen our Waiʻanae community. Together, we are creating pathways toward stability, hope, and opportunity for our neighbors.

Mahalo to Hui 'O Na Wahine ( Spouses Club) for their generous $1,000 donation to Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, presented during their annual awards ceremony earlier this month.

Hui ʻo Na Wahine is a nonprofit, all-ranks spouses club serving the Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Airfield community. Their mission to strengthen community spirit, provide support systems, develop leadership, and improve quality of life reflects the same values that guide our work every day at Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi.

Through the SSVF program, Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi helps veterans and their families facing housing instability or homelessness by providing housing assistance, case management, and supportive services to help them regain stability and hope. In 2025 alone, Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi has already supported more than 300 veterans and their families across our islands. Partnerships like this make that work possible.

Mahalo again to Hui ʻo Na Wahine for your generosity, partnership, and commitment to strengthening our Hawaiʻi community.

Mahalo piha to the Armed Services YMCA Hawaii for their incredible generosity and support of Hawaiʻi’s veterans and their families.

During their recent visit to Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi, Annisa Budiman, Marketing & Outreach Director, and Keola Taniguchi, Executive Director of the Armed Services YMCA, presented our Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program with $5,600 in gift cards to assist Veteran households impacted by the recent Kona Low storm. These resources will directly support families identified through the storm impact list created by Jillian Okamoto and our dedicated Housing Assistance & Referral Programs (HARP) team.

In 2025 alone, Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi has already supported more than 300 veterans and their families across our islands, helping provide stability, hope, and critical support during times of need. Partnerships like this make that work possible.

We are deeply grateful for this growing partnership with the Armed Services YMCA and for their commitment to caring for those who have served our country. 💙
