Day 4 of our Hawaii/Okinawa Lifeguard Exchange training is in the books, and it's been an incredible journey! We're not just sharing our Aloha spirit; we're also sharing our natural resources, cultures, and knowledge to ensure the safety of our communities. The warmth and positive energy between our countries have already sparked plans for next year. Though we may be separated by distance, the bond we share through the water brings us together in heart and purpose. It's a beautiful reminder of our commitment to each other and the safety of those we serve.

Today marks Day 2 of our lifeguard exchange program, and it's been an enriching experience. We focused on vital spinal injury management and rescue tube techniques, ensuring we’re prepared for any situation. It was heartwarming to see lifeguards collaborating and sharing their knowledge in the towers, fostering a sense of community and support. This journey feels like the beginning of something truly significant for our planet, and were grateful to be a part of it.

Day #1 of our inaugural lifeguard exchange. We’re coming together to share not just our knowledge, but also our cultures, fostering connections that transcend borders. By working collaboratively on life-saving techniques, we aim to create a safer haven for both our communities and the visitors who rely on us. Together, we’re striving to make our planet a kinder and safer place for everyone.

The Hawaiian Lifeguard Association is a professional association incorporated in the State of Hawaii, with
United States Internal Revenue Service 501(c) status.
The association was organized in 1990, as an offshoot of the former Hawaii Lifesaving Association, a local
chapter of the United States Lifesaving Association. The re-organization was reformed as a matter of
refocusing the association to deal with specific educational issues related to providing lifeguarding and
ocean safety services in Hawaii's unique culture and ocean environment.
The Hawaiian Lifeguard Association seeks to:
- establish and maintain the highest standards of professional surf and open water lifesaving in an effort
to maximize the safety of the public in ocean and coastal waters throughout the State of Hawaii.
- provide public, professional, and governmental education in the field of ocean safety, particularly in the
areas of rescue management, emergency medical care and treatment, and to conduct informational and
educational activities designed to prevent aquatic emergencies in Hawaiian waters.
- actively support and promote the improvement and progression of lifesaving throughout the State of
Hawaii.
