We invite all incoming students and families to attend our New Student Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Two sessions will be offered: 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Each session will begin promptly in the High School Auditorium with a brief presentation to help students and families understand what to expect during their high school years.

At 1 p.m. -- Students will participate in a guided tour of the building. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the presentation but will remain in the auditorium while the students tour the school.

At 6 p.m. -- The same orientation presentation is included. Parents and guardians are invited to accompany their student on the building tour.

Bus routing information is now live on the My Ride K-12 App. As of 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, registered student-rider profiles for the 2026-2027 school year are live and able to be accessed.

Easily download the My Ride K-12 app for mobile access on Google Play or Apple App Store or use the desktop version by logging in at myridek12.tylerapp.com and creating an account.

Please call the Horseheads Transportation Department at 607-739-6338 about any unexpected changes to the schedule you may see in the app, or you have questions. You may also message transportation staff directly through the My Ride K-12 app’s communication feature.

❤️ Emergency-Ready Coaches & Staff

Being prepared goes beyond the playing field! This week, our coaches took an important step toward keeping our student-athletes safe by completing CPR and AED certification training.

Training included hands-on practice following the American Heart Association curriculum, helping our coaches build the skills and confidence to respond in an emergency.

Thank you to our coaches for making safety a priority and being ready when it matters most! 👏

Horseheads Class of 2026 Graduate Kassidy McCracken was named the winner of a logo creation contest for the Tioga County Food Alliance. Kassidy’s logo design was a class assignment for her Drawing and Painting 3 class. She won a $500 gift card which will be presented on Thursday, August 27th at the Chemung County Food Bank.

📚The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8! As we get closer to the start of a new school year, now is a great time for students and families to begin transitioning back to a school-centered routine.

Over the next few weeks, we encourage parents and guardians to gradually adjust students’ bedtimes and wake-up times to align with the schedule they’ll need once school begins. Getting back into a consistent routine can help students feel more rested, focused and ready to learn.
