Camp Ignite 2026 is officially in the books!

Thank you to all of the parents for entrusting us with your incredible young women this week. It was an honor to spend time with them and watch them grow in confidence, courage, and determination.

To our campers, thank you for showing what true grit looks like. You embraced every challenge, encouraged one another, and proved that you are capable of extraordinary things. We couldn’t be more proud of each of you.

A huge thank you to our internal and external instructors who dedicated their time, knowledge, and passion to making this camp such a success. You inspired the next generation of firefighters and first responders, and we can’t thank you enough.

Finally, thank you to our sponsors, Houston DTF Transfers and Chick-fil-A 45 & West Road for helping make Camp Ignite possible. Your support means so much to us and to the young women who participated.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. this morning, crews were dispatched to assist Harris County ESD 16 - Klein Fire Department with a large apartment fire involving reports of multiple trapped occupants.

Firefighters worked alongside mutual aid partners to rescue several victims from the burning building while crews battled heavy fire conditions. Due to the extent of the fire, operations transitioned to a defensive strategy as suppression efforts continued throughout the early morning hours.

The fire is being investigated as an act of arson, and an arrest has been made. Tragically, one person lost their life, and 13 others were injured.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, those injured, and everyone affected by this devastating incident.

At approximately 6:48 p.m. yesterday, Little York Fire Department crews were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 600 block of Aldine Mail Route Road. While responding, District Chief 82 reported a large column of smoke visible from the fire station. Dispatch advised that the involved structure was a local funeral home.

The first-arriving crews encountered heavy fire conditions coming from the rear of the building and immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control while conducting operations to protect the remainder of the structure. During the incident, crews were forced to evacuate the building after a portion of the roof collapsed, prioritizing firefighter safety.

Recognizing the sensitive nature of the occupancy, firefighters also made every effort to preserve the decedents entrusted to the funeral home. Once conditions were deemed safe, those individuals were respectfully transferred to another facility for continued care.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshal.
