SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council

SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council SETRAC has two separate mission objectives, the Hospital Preparedness Program and clinical service lines. SETRAC is the designated regional preparedness body for southeast Texas.

SETRAC also offers stroke services, cardiac services and, trauma services. The Texas Legislature mandated in 1989 the creation of a regionalized trauma system throughout the state. Texas was divided into 22 regions (trauma service areas), each to be served by a Regional Advisory Council charged with formulating and organizing local systems for delivering care to injured citizens. Exercises are a key component of an emergency management program. They help identify gaps in planning, reduce response times, and increase staff confidence during times of crisis.

Earlier this week, SETRAC ran a burn surge tabletop exercise which included over 90 participants representing regional hospitals, EMS agencies, and partners. The tabletop was followed by SETRAC’s annual functional exercise which simulated a Level I activation of the Catastrophic Medical Operations Center (CMOC).
