SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council

SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council SETRAC has two separate mission objectives, the Hospital Preparedness Program and clinical service lines. SETRAC is the designated regional preparedness body for southeast Texas.

SETRAC also offers stroke services, cardiac services and, trauma services. The Texas Legislature mandated in 1989 the creation of a regionalized trauma system throughout the state. Texas was divided into 22 regions (trauma service areas), each to be served by a Regional Advisory Council charged with formulating and organizing local systems for delivering care to injured citizens. Today SETRAC is hosting a HAM radio licensing class.

HAM radio is used as a backup means of communication by SETRAC during disaster conditions when typical communication methods are interrupted. Once licensed, these individuals will be able to use a higher frequency to communicate on behalf of their hospital or agency.

Thank you, Alfred Perez, for volunteering to facilitate the training discussion today!

We are honored to have great partners such as Fort Bend County EMS and Fort Bend County Health & Human Services to train and educate our communities on bleeding control.

Thank you, KP George Fort Bend County Judge for recognition of Stop The Bleed Month and for being a part of this important, lifesaving initiative.

Did you know that 20% of trauma deaths could be prevented each year with effective bleeding control?

Today we recognized National Stop the Bleed Month and SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council during Commissioners Court with Fort Bend County EMS of Fort Bend County Health & Human Services.

The public trained to help in a bleeding emergency can save lives!

05/20/2021

A campaign that was born out of tragedy, that was validated by wartime data, has since become synonymous with saving lives.

Life-threatening bleeding remains a leading cause of death after traumatic injury. Let today be a reminder that you can save a life.

Take the training. Become an instructor. Share your knowledge.

It's May 20, 2021. It's National Stop the Bleed Day.

Did you know that Tai Chi can be effective in preventing falls?

Falls continue to be the #1 reason for trauma injuries in our region and the SETRAC Injury Prevention Committee is working to change that. Regional hospitals and EMS agencies have developed virtual fall prevention programs (such as the one listed below) for older adults who may be at high risk for falls.

For additional information on falls prevention, visit our website at https://www.setrac.org/injury-prevention/.
