The Sewa International Houston team, along with our partner organizations, actively supported, participated in, and volunteered at multiple International Day of Yoga (IDY) events across the Greater Houston area, demonstrating our commitment to health, wellness, and community engagement.
On the morning of June 20, Sewa International Houston collaborated with HSS and the Hindu Yuva team for a vibrant IDY celebration attended by more than 70 community members. The event was graced by the presence of the Consul General of India, Shri D. C. Manjunath Manjunath Chenneerappa , Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon Carol McCutcheon , elected officials, and community leaders.
Later that evening, Sewa volunteers supported and served at the Official Consulate General of India International Day of Yoga event. More than 100 community members participated in the celebration, which was attended by Consul General Shri D. C. Manjunath, elected officials' representatives, and distinguished community leaders.
On Sunday June 21st, despite heavy rains early Sunday morning, more than 50 Sewa volunteers and supporters gathered at George Bush Park in Katy, Texas, to participate in the International Day of Yoga event. Their enthusiasm, resilience, and dedication highlighted the spirit of yoga and community service. The Houston County Precinct IV Commissioner Lesley Briones, recognized Sewa International with a special proclamation issued on the occasion of IDY.
On Sunday June 21st, Sewa International Houston partnered with the City of Fulshear and the HSS team to celebrate International Day of Yoga in Fulshear, Texas. The event was attended by Fulshear Mayor McCoy, City Council Member .Utturkar and other community leaders.
A special highlight of the event was a chair yoga session led by Meena Kankani Ji Swasth Yoga Katy , which attracted more than 50 participants and showcased yoga's accessibility for people of all ages and abilities.
Over the past 48 hours, Houston witnessed more than 40 International Day of Yoga events across the region—one of the highest levels of participation in recent years. This remarkable turnout reflects growing awareness of personal health and wellness and reinforces this year's theme of "Yoga for Healthy Ageing."
