At 1235am Westlake crews were dispatched to a traumatic injury. Assistant Chief 4103 and Medic 41 were first to arrive with one patient with significant facial injuries caused by a firework. Immediately upon patient contact, command requested Memorial Hermann Life Flight for transport. The patient was taken to West Houston Airport where Ladder 43 Crew had set up a landing zone. MHLF crew stabilized the patient in the field by establishing an airway via cricothyrotomy and a blood transfusion. The patient was then transported to Memorial Hermann Trauma Center. Harris County Fire Marshal and Harris County Sheriff's Office were on scene to conduct an investigation into what happened.

We take this time to stress the importance of firework safety. Leave the fireworks to the professionals!

Last night at 7:39pm Westlake crews were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Barker Cypress Rd south of Clay Rd. Assistant Chief 4103 was first on scene. He reported one vehicle with heavy damage, the occupant partially ejected and pinned underneath the car. Ambulance 42 was next on scene and assessed the patient and saw that the patient had multiple open fractures. The decision made to call Memorial Hermann Life Flight due to the injuries. Squad 42 arrived and used their extrication tools to lift the car off of the patient and pull the patient out. Ladder 43 and Battalion 41 arrived on scene to assist with loading the patient in the ambulance and then headed over to the West Houston airport to land lifeflight. The patient was flown to the downtown trauma center with significant injuries. We were later informed that the patient did not survive the injuries.

This squad will be replacing our old Sq41 which will be moved to our reserve squad. There are a few minor changes from our other trucks, but for the most part they are very much the same. Once all the tools and equipment is loaded the truck will be inservice and ready to serve the community.

The moment everyone has been asking for! The Santa's Candy Toss Schedule is finally here. We have had many people call and email asking if we were doing the SCT this year. I told each person we were, but that this year would look different from years past. This year we will not be driving up and down every street in the neighborhoods. We will be driving on all the major streets in each subdivision, a map will be post no later than Friday so that you can see the specific route we are taking. If you have any questions, please reach out! We will start each night around 6:30pm, but keep in mind we are still active for calls and must respond to those as needed. See yall this weekend!

Keep our neighboring department Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department and the Baker family in your prayers!

This is not the news we were hoping to share with you all today. Paramedic Gordon Baker has lost his courageous two-month battle with COVID. Gordon touched countless lives throughout his almost 30-year career, as a caregiver, a mentor and a friend. Gordon’s clinical skill and compassion for his patients is unmatched as he treated every patient as he would his family. The past few months have been filled with stories from EMS providers looking back at how Gordon influenced them as new paramedics and EMT’s and how his mentorship shaped them into the providers they are today. All members of Harris County ESD 48 and countless other agencies throughout Katy and Houston are devastated that we will no longer be able to have Gordon’s physical body to guide us. However, his influence and friendship will continue to guide us throughout our lives as we continue to care for our community the way that he would and treat every patient and coworker as family. Gordon, your loss is immeasurable but now is your time to rest and be free from sickness and pain. We’ll proudly take it from here…

Please join us as we pray for healing for one of our neighboring department Brothers, Gordon Baker. He is battling Covid 19 and can use every thought and prayer!

*edited with permission from Gordon's family*

Good evening everyone. Tonight, we are asking for you all to pray for one of our own. Gordon Baker, one of our paramedics, has been hospitalized for the past few weeks with COVID. Today, he was placed on a ventilator to help support his breathing. Gordon has faithfully served his community over the past several years. We are asking for your support and prayers not only for him, but for all of our members and all first responders and healthcare workers everywhere who continue to fight this terrible disease. Thank you.

Hi when will you be rescheduling for the apts. (Farmington, Stone Creek, Kenwood, Westborough) I told my parents I would let them know? Tks
Question posted previously, can you please post map?
Is tonight's Candy Toss still on schedule for Westgreen and Sundown subdivision? As a teacher in the subdvision's zone, I would like to notify my student parents via text. And if so around what time, please? Tks
are yall doing yalls haunted house this year?
Hey Westlake, what was happening the other morning behind Denny's? Looked like the clothing donation box was on fire. Just wondering.
Will y’all be having a Halloween haunted drive thru or Halloween chase?
Hi! I’m sorry this message is so late and I hope that it finds y’all well!...I know this is a long shot and I haven’t a clue if this is even a reasonable request as I’m not from here and I’m still not sure how you Texans do it quite yet!! However, I have seen such remarkable and truly inspiring things since I’ve been here so I was kind of thinking this might be worth a go. Today happens to be my baby sisters birthday and as it turns out, with Covid-19, her just recently graduating college (with 3 of the best kids ever in tow)...moving into her new home and finding her first big girl job, WE DID NOT PLAN A THING-so last night we threw together one of those drive by parades, I rallied up all of old high school friends (it’s her 30th bday by the way) got my parents and my other siblings on board and we’re all gonna line up at 0745 (today) at her house to surprise her for what I’m sure will be a morning that she’ll never forget!!...and what I was wondering is-if one of your trucks was in the area and not real busy at the moment of the big shabang-would it be at possible for us to maybe get some GOOD OLD TEXAS SIZED lights and sirens to help lead the way for this sweet sister of mine’s surprise Sunday morning wake up call?? I’d pay you in Louisiana hugs and donuts and kolaches served up by the neatest New Orleans transplants this town ever did see!!❤️ I sent the address in a private message and even if I don’t see y’all in a few hours. Thanks so much for all of your service and dedication-it’s so much appreciated!!!!! ❤️
🐺 Den from Pack 1001 visited the station 1/17/2020. Thank you all for your service.
Merry Christmas to you all and families. Thank you for your services and God Bless. Stay safe
Thank you for a fun night!!
Love you all! Still with you in spirit and heart. Have fun with Open House! Always fun...
Look at this awesome warmer that would make a great gift
