Merry Christmas from Westlake Fire. Please be safe! Remember all those who are working to keep you safe.
Just before 10am Westlake Fire Department responded to a Residential Fire in the Rolling Green Subdivision. Upon arrival crews had heavy smoke and fire from the roof. Squad 41 proceeded with an offensive attack on the fire. Quickly behind then were crews from Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department and Cy-Fair Fire Department to assist with fire suppression. The fire was brought under control at 1115am.
Harris County Fire Marshal is on scene conducting an investigation for cause.
There are no injuries to report at this incident.
The personal rewards and satisfaction from volunteering with Westlake are often beyond description. From being there on someone’s worst day to lifelong camaraderie, there is no shortage of benefits when volunteering with Westlake Fire Department.

The route for this evenings Santa's Candy Toss. We begin at 7pm. Just for clarification purposes, all apparatus used in the route are in service. Meaning if we get a call, they have to go. There may be the chance that Santa misses a street due to this, we promise that it wasn't intentional.
It's going to get cold 'round these parts! Make sure you are ready for the cold weather. Outdoor pipes should be covered/wrapped to prevent freezing, if using space heaters inside your home make sure they have at least 3 feet of clearance and don't allow them to run while you are sleeping or away, never use appliances like ovens or stoves to heat your home, and make sure chimneys are cleaned and in good repair before lighting a fire.
As temperatures drop, be weather-ready with accurate forecasts, alerts, and guidance:

Every year more than 320,000 people have a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital in the United States.
What is a cardiac arrest?
Unlike a heart attack, which is caused by a blockage that restricts the flow of blood to the heart, a cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating. Another way to think about it is that a heart attack is a “plumbing” problem where you need to remove the blockage, and a cardiac arrest is an “electrical” problem where the heart needs to begin beating again.
EVERYONE is empowered to act and perform HANDS ONLY CPR when it’s needed.
What is Hands-Only CPR?
Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an "out-of-hospital" setting (such as at home, at work, or in a park). It consists of two easy steps:
1. Call 911 (or send someone to do that).
2. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
When you call 911, you need to stay on the phone until the 911 dispatcher (operator) tells you to hang up. The dispatcher will ask you about the emergency. They will also ask for details such as your location. It is important to be specific, especially if you are calling from a mobile phone as that is not associated with a fixed location or address. Remember that answering the dispatcher's questions will not delay the arrival of help.

The moment everyone's been waiting on! The 2022 Santa's Candy Toss schedule! We have made some changes this year that will be different from years past. In our best efforts to be efficient with our increasing call volume, we will be doing a day and night portion of the SCT! We are still drawing the routes of each neighborhood. As we have the past few years we will not be going down every street. With that being said, any streets that have cars double parked will be avoided. We can not risk damaging our citizens personal property nor our equipment. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

This past Saturday Westlake Fire and EMS crews had the opportunity to train at Community Volunteer Fire Department brand new training facility. The training grounds let our fire crews hone their skills on various task that are conducted on fire scenes and also allowed the EMS crews to get involved with patient care. This opportunity allows our members to build on their knowledge and skill sets so that we can better serve our community! We were also blessed with having Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department rehab crew on-site as Fire and EMS personnel finished evolutions. Thank you to everyone that helped make this day a success.
Last night at 6:00pm Westlake FD received a call for a major motor vehicle incident on Clay Rd blocking all eastbound lanes. Crews from Squad 42, Ambulance 42, and Battalion 41 responded and arrived on scene and found one patient entrapped in a white SUV, crews quickly secured the scene with help from CyFair FD and HCSO. Fire crews used spreaders to gain access to the car while the patient was in EMS care, the patient was successfully extricated and transferred over to EMS crews who stabilized, treated, and transported the patient to the hospital for further evaluation.
