Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:45 AM 8/14/26 for Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Perry, and Pike counties in KY. Life threatening flash flooding is already occurring with 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain near McRoberts and up to 0.5 inches more possible. Creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses may flood. Turn around, don’t drown, and avoid flooded roads, especially at night.

This means no alerts will be pushed to the Hazard, KY listening area until resolved. Have alternate ways to receive warnings!

Continued Event - Flood Watch. Flash flooding from excessive rainfall remains possible across portions of east central and southeast Kentucky, including Bath, Estill, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry and Wolfe. Heavy downpours and training storms may cause flooding through Wednesday morning. Avoid low-lying areas and never drive through flooded roads.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 7:45 PM EDT for Bell, Clay, Harlan, Knott, Knox, Leslie, Letcher, and Perry areas in Kentucky. Radar shows a line of storms moving south at 40 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail and wind damage to vehicles, roofs, siding, and trees possible. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor.
