Colorado Legionnaire Jay Bowen never had his eyes set on being American Legion national commander. But then again, he never thought about being post commander or any other leadership position beyond that.

We are incredibly grateful to American Legion Post 64 for their generous $20,000 donation to the Indiana American Legion Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund, presented to 11th District Commander Steve DeFeo.

This tremendous gift will help provide direct assistance to veterans and Legion Family members impacted by natural disasters across Indiana, helping ensure support is there when the unexpected happens.

Post 64’s commitment to the Foundation extends far beyond this one gift. Time and again, they have shown unwavering support for our mission and a willingness to step forward when there is a need.

Their commitment strengthens our ability to serve veterans, their families, and communities across Indiana, not only in times of disaster, but throughout the year.

Thank you for continuing to believe in the work of the Indiana American Legion Foundation and for once again answering the call to serve. Your generosity is making a difference across our state.

Last night, the small but mighty Legion Family of American Legion Post 82 in Fort Wayne showed just how big of an impact the Legion Family can make.

Department Commander Ron Hoaks was presented with checks totaling an incredible $11,000 for the Indiana American Legion Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund, supporting Hoosiers impacted by the recent storms and flooding across our state.

This is what happens when our Legion Family rallies around its communities. Every dollar represents a commitment to helping our fellow Hoosiers recover, rebuild, and know they aren’t facing the aftermath alone.

A tremendous thank you to the entire Post 82 Legion Family for stepping up, answering the call, and putting service into action.

They told us they are a small but mighty post with a family of about 200 members, but they are making a difference far beyond the walls of Post 82.

Under brand new leadership, the American Legion Family at Post 1 in Connersville, Ind., had scheduled a pulled pork dinner fundraiser for Aug. 15, in part to generate income and in part to reintroduce itself its Southeastern Indiana community.

Department Commander Ron Hoaks visited this post yesterday and witnessed firsthand the outstanding work being done to serve both their local community and surrounding areas. Their efforts exemplify the mission and values of The American Legion. A separate story highlighting his visits will be published soon.

Cambridge City is known among Indiana residents as a must-see for antique enthusiasts. But after storms dropped more than 11 inches of rain in some areas of the state, the town located around 20 miles from the Ohio border and nestled along historic U.S. 40 became known nationally for something else.
