Ukuleles playing Psycho Killer in the Library?! Not a Mad Lib, but it may be a brand new sentence!
Thank you Ithaca Ukes for helping set the tone for Downtown Ithaca Trick or Treating! (And remember to catch the Ithaca Ukes and the Hula Hut Dancers for their holiday show here on December 5th!)

The Ithaca Ukes set up outside the entrance to Youth Services, playing Ukuleles. We then see various clips of people in costume getting candy, decorations, a puppet, and a trick-or-treating sign before ending on the Ithaca Ukes.

Whether you knew him as Patrick, Jean-Luc Picard, Professor Xavier, Gurney Halleck, Avery Bullock, Ebeneezer Scrooge, Captain Ahab, King Richard the Lionhearted, or simply as the nice man who read Shakespeare sonnets during COVID lockdowns, Patrick Stewart had a life and career that touched millions around the world.

The Friends of the Library's Fall Book Sale is officially wrapped up, but its impact will be felt in this community for years to come. We just learned the sale was the second biggest in the history of the Book Sale! Thank you to the dedicated volunteers who make the sale possible, and the thousands who loaded up on bargain books (and more!) during the sale. Proceeds from these sales are the primary funder for TCPL's book purchases, and also support Finger Lakes Library System members, scholarships, and literacy programs.

We're just a few weeks away from our Community Read discussion! All are invited to come join community members and TCPL staff to talk about the Community Read 2026 book 𝘈 𝘗𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘮 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘥-𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵.
There are two chances to join in:
The in-person discussion will be in the BorgWarner Community Room on Thursday, November 19th.

A quick reminder that Information Saves Lives!
Join TCPL and The Reach Project, INC & Reach Medical PLLC on Thursday, November 5 at 4 p.m. to learn how to identify signs of a possible opioid overdose and how to use the opioid overdose reversal drug NARCAN.
Those in attendance will receive an overdose rescue kit.

A glimpse into the printmaking creations from Kids Artmaking with Laura this week! Children and families had a blast using paint and leaves to make colorful one-of-a-kind prints!
We have four sessions left of Kids Artmaking with Laura. It will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday November 9th, November 23rd, November 30th, and December 14th!

Timeline cleanse!
Welcoming the well-behaved pups from Cornell Companions to Sit! Stay! Read! is always a highlight for the week, but the Monday before Halloween is always extra special!
Children learning to read are invited to practice reading out loud with these great listeners every Monday from 3 - 4 p.m. in the Thaler/Howell Programming Room.

We have a special science treat this Saturday at your Library!

Children ages 5 and up and their families are invited to a free science program, hosted by Science Olympiad at Cornell University: Chemistry with Witches: Bubbling Cauldrons and Slime!

This week, join our witchy-experiments to magically change states of matter! Make your own mini cauldrons bubble with a chemical reaction potion, or mix up some slime, a magical transformation from a liquid to a solid.

Registration through our website is encouraged. Drop-ins welcome if space allows.

This is part of our weekly program, Exploring Science Together, which meets every Saturday at 1:30 p.m. through November 21st!
