A reminder on this International Overdose Awareness Day that Information Saves Lives! Harm reduction saves lives. Community saves lives. Care saves lives. NARCAN saves lives. Speaking out saves lives. And eliminating stigma saves lives.
Join The Reach Project, INC & Reach Medical PLLC for NARCAN training this Thursday at 4 p.m. in our BorgWarner Community Room to learn how to respond to a possible opioid overdose.
TCPL's Information Saves Lives project is funded by the Tompkins County Opioid Task Force grant and an anonymous donation to the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation.

Libraries: the best places on earth ❤

"The feelings of happiness and optimism when I discovered the library for the first time. I love books, so walking into the library was like walking into one of the best places on Earth."

September arrives this week, as summer comes to a close. But before the vacation season ends, we have an exciting performance planned from performers from Hupstate Circus Fest who will bring the fun live show To The Moon and Back to the Avenue of the Friends in the center of the Library on Friday starting at 3:00 p.m.
Other highlights from the week ahead include the monthly chance for tabletop gamers to come together in our TTRPG Brainstorming Group, as well as our monthly NARCAN training with the REACH Project.
Please note: after a busy summer that saw an extraordinary number of programs and events at your Library, our Youth Services team is taking a break before local schools come back into session. That means regular weekday programming like Sit! Stay! Read!, Maker Monday, LEGO Family Build Night, and storytimes are all on hiatus for the week. Don't worry though, it will be a short break, with the regular schedule returning after Labor Day.
Speaking of Labor Day, your Library will be closed for the holiday from Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.
Enjoy your week and your holiday!

It's time to come together for gaming! Join the next TTRPG Brainstorming Group meeting this coming Wednesday at 6 p.m.

After a thrilling summer that has seen more than 5,500 children join in programs at your Library, our Youth Services team is taking a brief pause to reset before an exciting fall. That means children's programs, including Sit! Stay! Read!, Story + Craft, Storytime, and more will be on a break next week.
Our staff will still be here, you can still get help, check out books, and ask questions just like always.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our regular programs after Labor Day!

We're just over a week away from the kick-off of the Hupstate Circus Festival in Ithaca — but you can get a sneak peek by joining your Library for a presentation of To the Moon and Back on Friday, September 4th.
To The Moon and Back is a charming, silly, all-ages circus show with a handmade set and a creative, problem solving adventure story. It's 45 minutes of juggling, acrobatics, comedy, puppets, and even a rocket ship as two clowns work to return the moon to the sky!
This special presentation on The Avenue of the Friends is made possible by a grant from the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation.
