What an amazing week of learning, creativity, and hands-on STEM experiences for our girls! This was our first summer STEM with 25 girls! Here’s a recap of each day:
Day 1: Science of Body & Mind with Soyini Circles, including gardening by Siliva, and fitness by Body Paradox , and an inspiring lunch speaker from Paula D. Wright with DCPS
Day 2: STEM Rotations & Panel� Our girls explored Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through hands-on activities and conversations with inspiring women in STEM:
• Michelle Mattey — Operations Manager, Office of Information Security at Mayo Clinic� • Marjani Alceus — Information Systems Manager at Aptar Group� • Skylar Davis — JIW Alumni & Science Major at LSU� • Angela Young — Cox Media� • Twyla Prindle — Kash Kids� • Joyce Jeltz — JIA� • Yvelis Rivera — JEA
Day 3: Science of Scent & Science of Hair
The girls learned about the science behind scent with Jones and Rose Luxury Natural Bath and Body Products and the science of hair with Texture Crush. They ended the day with a fun Shark Tank-style hair product challenge!
Day 4: STEM Field Trip� We visited Florida State College at Jacksonville downtown campus- Advanced Technical Center for hands-on experiences in robotics, technology, and science, along with a college tour and admissions experience.
Day 5: Celebration & Success� The week wrapped up with , where the girls earned their Junior Security Analyst Certificates, followed by awards, celebration, line dancing, and hip-hop dancing!
