Nothing beats kicking off the week by resuming our Beyond School Walls program and welcoming new mentor matches! 🎉

Students were inspired by a warm welcome from the Fernandina Beach Police Department, followed by an engaging presentation from Career Source. The energy continued as participants from the Fernandina Beach Police Department, Fernandina Beach Fire Department, and Fernandina Beach High School faced off in the World's Largest Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship Battle! 👮🚒✂️📄🪨

Beyond School Walls connects students with workplace mentors, helping them build career awareness, confidence, communication skills, and meaningful relationships with professionals in the community. For businesses and organizations, the program provides an opportunity to invest in the future workforce, strengthen community connections, and make a lasting impact on local youth.

We're excited to see these new mentoring relationships grow throughout the year!

✨ Match Moment Spotlight: JP & Robert ✨

What started with a Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game has grown into a meaningful friendship that's making a lasting impact.

When Big Brother JP first met Little Brother Robert, they kicked off their match with a baseball game. Since then, they've shared many adventures together, from exploring a Dino Expo and cheering at neighborhood baseball games with street tacos to competing at Dave & Buster's.

Lately, one of their favorite activities has been cooking together. Both JP and Robert love trying new foods, making time in the kitchen the perfect way to learn, laugh, and connect.

Robert's mom says his face lights up every time JP arrives to pick him up. Those moments speak volumes about the bond they've built and the difference a caring mentor can make.

Because of volunteers like JP, young people like Robert are thriving.

Volunteer Opportunities Available

Community-Based Mentoring
Spend time with your Little out in the community between 4 – 7 hours each month. Enjoy activities such as visiting parks, attending community events, playing sports, or simply spending quality time together.

Site-Based Mentoring
Meet with your Little one (1) hour per week at a designated school during scheduled times. This option provides a structured environment for mentors who want to make a difference during the school day. Enjoy activities such as helping with homework, sharing conversations, setting goals, and/or bonding over lunch.
