Presbyterian Social Ministries (PSMJax) had its humble beginnings in the basement of First Presbyterian Church in downtown Jacksonville, FL. PSMJax started as a small dormitory, offering a home base for mission-minded individuals in a city setting - the Urban Mission Experience (UME). PSMJax outgrew the facilities at First Presbyterian Church, moved to Riverside Presbyterian Church, outgrew once m
ore, and is now located on the Murray Hill Presbyterian church campus. Our UME program was derailed by the pandemic and the space has since been repurposed to provide a temporary housing space to traveling healthcare individuals. PSMJax has also expanded the services offered to the community, working closely with other like-minded organizations to help them meet their needs. Our Home Safe program provides permanent housing solutions to 60 previously homeless individuals and families. Our Clothing with Purpose program receives donations from individuals and clothing manufacturers. We sort them by gender/size/season and distribute them to over 100 partner agencies locally, and statewide, including a global reach. We distribute over 133,000 items of clothing annually. In addition to all the clothing, we also distribute household items, toys, baby items, pillows, and many other items that come through our doors, serving over 20,000 people every year. We are always seeking volunteers. Are you ready to put your faith into action? Join us in connecting those who have to those who need.
