It’s that time of year again! 🎉🎉🎉 LINK IN BIO!

Join us for Pathways to Progress: Apprentice Learning’s Annual  Fundraising Celebration—an evening of connection, inspiration, and community in support of Boston’s middle-grade youth.

Young people deserve the opportunity to explore who they are, discover what moves them, and imagine futures they may not yet know are possible.

But they shouldn’t have to do that alone.

At Apprentice Learning, we surround our middle schoolers with career mentors and a community willing to share their time, talents, connections, and treasures—opening doors, building relationships, and reminding them that they belong in every space they’re curious enough to explore.

Come be part of that community!!

When: Thursday, October 15 | 6–9 PM
Where: Hibernian Hall, Roxbury

to last summer's Career Extravaganza!

What happens when a young person meets someone who helps them see a possibility they hadn’t imagined for themselves?

That’s the power of a career mentor.

At the Career Extravaganza, 6th and 7th graders explored careers hands-on alongside professionals—building connections, asking questions, and discovering new fields and possible future selves.

At Apprentice Learning, we believe young people deserve more than exposure to careers. They deserve relationships, networks, and people who remind them that they belong in every space they’re curious enough to explore. That matters especially during the middle grades, when identity, confidence, and ideas about the future are beginning to take shape.

And we need a whole community to make that possible.

Come be part of it.

Join us next month at our "Pathways to Progress" fundraiser. Bring a friend, share the invitation, and help us build a wider circle of possibilities around our apprentices.

Some summers go exactly as planned. This wasn't one of them.

It’s hard to believe summer is already behind us. September has arrived, young people are heading back to school, and here at Apprentice Learning, we’ve been reflecting on our summer Workplace Explorations.

This year, we pivoted.

City Summer Internship (CSI) has been a cornerstone of summer at Apprentice Learning. When we made the difficult decision not to offer it this year, we asked ourselves: What else might be possible?

We got curious.

We widened the circle, opening Workplace Explorations to middle-grade youth across our programs and giving more young people access to experiences traditionally reserved for our CSI cohort.

They climbed into airplane cockpits and flew drones. Bent metal and harvested kale. Extracted strawberry DNA, worked with pipettes, encountered robots, and asked scientists about AI.

But they encountered more than activities.

They encountered whole worlds of possibility.

An airplane became a glimpse into an ecosystem of careers. A laboratory became a place to experiment, ask questions, and imagine themselves belonging. Each new workplace became another point on a much larger map of what their lives could hold.

We don’t expect a middle schooler to know exactly where they’re going.

We want them to encounter enough of the world to understand just how many directions they could go. They can study science, finance, technology, communications, agriculture, engineering—or discover something completely new. The possibilities are endless.

Sometimes a change in plans opens doors you didn't even know were there.

Summer may be over.

But for these young people, we hope this was only the beginning.

**A huge shout out and THANK YOU to all of our worksite partners and career mentors who dedicate their time and expertise to our young people.
