Today, I officially got my library card at the Jersey City Free Public Library’s Glenn D. Cunningham Branch!

A library card opens the door to so many resources! You can access educational materials online, watch videos, take classes, explore digital resources, and, of course, check out a great book!

The process was quick and easy, it took me less than five minutes, and I am definitely going to put my card to good use.

Our libraries are incredible community resources, and there is so much available right at our fingertips.

Today, I took some time to get work done at the library!

I reviewed draft legislation, answered questions from my team members, participated in a Zoom meeting, responded to emails, and handled several other important tasks.

But what made the day even more meaningful was having the opportunity to interact with residents while I worked. I also assisted constituents who came in to take care of their business with the MVC. Being accessible and connecting with the people I serve is always an important part of my day.

Sometimes, a change of scenery is exactly what you need to focus, connect, and get things done. Our libraries are valuable community resources that provide welcoming spaces to learn, work, access services, and engage with one another.

Tonight, I had the pleasure of attending a special celebration commemorating 30 years of New Jersey Public Charter Schools!

It was wonderful to join educators, advocates, leaders, and supporters in recognizing three decades of providing educational opportunities for students and families across our state.

Congratulations to all of tonight’s honorees for their leadership, service, and commitment to New Jersey’s students and school communities!

We also had the opportunity to hear a keynote address from New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Lily Laux, who joined in celebrating this important milestone.

Congratulations on 30 years, and thank you to the dedicated educators, staff, families, advocates, and community partners who continue to educate, empower, and inspire New Jersey’s scholars!

I had the opportunity to attend Alliance Community Healthcare’s Sickle Cell Disease documentary screening, No One Fights Alone: A Sickle Cell Journey.

The documentary was both informative and inspiring, shining a light on the experiences, challenges, strength, and resilience of individuals and families impacted by sickle cell disease.

Awareness matters. Education matters. Support matters. Together, we can continue to raise awareness, share important information and resources, and stand alongside those living with sickle cell disease and their families.

No one should have to fight alone.

What a meaningful experience it has been to sit down with constituents across Legislative District 31 for open, honest, and productive conversations.

For me, leadership starts with listening. These conversations gave me an opportunity to hear directly from residents about what’s working, what challenges they are facing, and what we can do together to strengthen our communities. I walked away from every conversation learning and growing right alongside the people I have the honor of serving.

A special THANK YOU to each of the local cafés that opened their doors and hosted us! Cups & Conversation is not only about connecting with constituents, it is also about supporting our LD31 small businesses, introducing more people to these neighborhood gems, and encouraging our community to come back and support them.

When we bring people together, listen to one another, and invest in our local businesses, our entire community grows stronger.

Thank you to everyone who joined me for this first round. This may be the end of Round One, but the conversations are just getting started!
