8700 E. The Charter Township of Comstock is a community of thirty-five (35) square miles in eastern Kalamazoo County, which is located in the southwestern region of lower Michigan. It is bordered by the City and Township of Kalamazoo to the west, Richland Township to the north, Pavilion Township to the south, and Charleston Township t
o the east. The City of Galesburg also borders to the east. Comstock Township is served by highways I-94 and M-96, both bisecting the Township from east to west and running virtually parallel to each other separated by a distance of slightly more than one mile. Comstock was historically a farming community once a leading celery producer. In more recent years Comstock has seen economic growth that has been fast-paced with a heavy concentration in auto stamping and parts, plastics, specialty and industrial machine shops, and service-oriented businesses. However, it’s the greenhouses and bedding plan industry have made Comstock Township the Bedding Plant Capital of the World. Several lakes and streams provide excellent fishing and recreational activities. Morrow Lake is the dominant water body in the Township encompassing approximately 1,065 acres of land feed by the Kalamazoo River the runs the length of the township. Comstock Township is considered a part of the Kalamazoo Metro area and serves as a bedroom community to many residents who work in the City of Kalamazoo and other surrounding communities.
