Kzoo Parks This is THE official page of the City of Kalamazoo Department of Parks and Recreation!

The Parks & Recreation Department oversees thirty-six parks and tot-lot playgrounds, including Bronson Park and the Fairmont Dog Park; manages the protection of physical and natural assets in the City; and provides recreation and leisure programs for youth, adults, senior citizens, and citizens with disabilities. All programs are open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of the challenges they face.

Work on the EPA project to complete soil testing and add monitoring wells at Mayors’ Riverfront Park has been completed. The nearby KRVT trail area, boat launch, and nearby parking area at Mayors’ Riverfront Park have been reopened.

Water quality testing has confirmed that Woods Lake meets Michigan’s Water Quality Standards for total body contact recreation. Woods Lake Beach has been reopened and normal beach activities may be resumed.

⚽ Fall 2026 Soccer Registration is OPEN!Keep the Spring momentum rolling with Saturday soccer hosted by Kzoo Parks and the Kalamazoo Crew! Kids will work on skills and drills with real Crew players.

Woods Lake Beach is closed until further notice due to the water quality.

Recent water testing detected E. coli levels above the total body contact standard. The public is advised to avoid total body contact with the water at Woods Lake until further notice.

Additional updates will be provided when the beach reopens.

A portion of Spring Valley Drive in Spring Valley Park will be closed starting tomorrow, Monday, August 24 for water main replacement. The park can still be accessed from the Brook Drive entrance or the Mt. Olivet Rd entrance near the water tower.

This closure will last about a week with another phase of work to begin in late September. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our water infrastructure!

Join us tonight for a drive-in movie at Spring Valley Park! 🚗🎬✨

We’ll be watching Jurassic Park on the soccer field at the southeast end of the park. You can park on the field to watch the movie drive-in style or bring chairs and blankets to watch from the lawn.

The fun kicks off at 6 p.m. with music, free face painting, and a youth entrepreneur fair. The movie will start at 7 p.m.

The Zoo Scoop will also have dirty sodas, snacks, candy, and other concessions available for purchase!

Looking for something fun to do before the movie starts? 🏓 Check out the new pickleball courts in the park! Find them next to the playground at the north end of the park, near the water tower.
