Whether it's monitoring river levels, inspecting critical levee systems or preparing our crisis management teams for immediate deployment, we remain ready, willing and able to protect the communities we serve.

Today, our team is joining our partners at the ’s annual meeting.

Since the historic 2019 flood on the , we have been laser-focused on repairing and replacing vital river structures to sustain our navigation mission. We are proud to report our team is currently 95% complete on $275 million in contracts for these critical repairs.

This massive recovery effort is a perfect example of how we are building infrastructure, not paperwork. We are committed to delivering tangible, on-the-ground results that keep the Missouri River a safe and reliable economic artery for the heartland and the nation.

This National Aviation Day, we’re highlighting how the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) delivers the critical infrastructure that keeps Army aviation soaring. At Fort Riley, we are constructing the new 119,000-square-foot Attack Aviation Battalion Complex at Kansas’s largest Army airfield to support those aviators.

It's not a matter of if, but when, a plan is needed.

National Preparedness Month starts in September, and as the saying goes, “failing to plan is planning to fail.”

Yesterday, the Kansas City District held a continuity of operations exercise to test our ability to keep essential functions running from an alternate location during an emergency.

This allowed us to practice activating our plan, which aims to have critical operations running at an alternate location within 12 hours of a disruption.

Being prepared is key to our mission of serving the public, no matter the circumstances.

🚨 MISSION UPDATE: Supporting Communities in Alaska 🚨

Recently, our readiness and contingency operations chief, Jud Kneuvean, traveled to Alaska in support of the Mendenhall River glacial outburst flood.

This seasonal phenomenon, caused by the rapid release of water from a nearby basin, poses a severe flood risk to families and infrastructure in the Mendenhall Valley. Jud, along with other federal, state, local and tribal partners convened in Juneau to provide technical and boots-on-the-ground assistance.

We are proud of our team members who deploy at a moment’s notice to protect communities across the nation! When disaster strikes, we are ready to respond and support.

On National Hire a Veteran Day, we recognize the veterans who continue serving our nation in a different way — by bringing their leadership, discipline and commitment to public service to the heartland.

Founded in 2017 by U.S. Marine Corps veteran Dan Caporale, National Hire a Veteran Day encourages employers to recognize the unique skills and experiences veterans contribute to the workforce whether public or private industry.

Across our district, veterans have successfully transitioned to civilian careers, where they continue building stronger communities, supporting our and delivering critical infrastructure projects that benefit millions of Americans.
Today, we're proud to share the stories of some of the veterans who traded their service uniforms for polo shirts but never stopped answering the call to serve.
