Let’s be honest: in an emergency, nobody wants to be standing in the hallway yelling, “Wait… where are my glasses?” A home fire can spread fast, so having an escape plan before there’s smoke and confusion can save lives.

And remember:
🔥 You can replace the casserole dish.
🔥 You can replace the recliner.
🔥 You cannot replace Uncle Bob if he goes back inside for his favorite slippers.

Take a few minutes today to make a fire escape plan with your loved ones. Safety never gets old. ❤️🏠

Preventing falls in older adults starts at home—where a few simple changes can go a long way toward keeping everyone steady on their feet (and out of “how did I end up on the floor?” territory).

The good news? A safer home is easier than learning to love that “modern abstract rug” you keep tripping over:
💡 Improve lighting in hallways, stairways, and entryways (so you can actually see what you’re doing without squinting like it’s a mystery novel)
🛁 Use non-slip mats in tubs and showers (because bathrooms should not feel like skating rinks)
🔑 Keep frequently used items within easy reach—no climbing, stretching, or creative acrobatics required
👟 Wear supportive, non-slip footwear indoors (slippers that stay on are a lifestyle upgrade)

Getting older comes with wisdom… and occasionally the realization that the floor is harder than you remember. A few small changes today can help keep you upright and independent tomorrow.

Each year, an estimated 1.6 to 3.8 million people experience concussions, according to the Brain Injury Research Institute—and many go unreported or undiagnosed.

What’s even more important to know? Concussions don’t just happen in sports. They can happen on the playground, riding bikes, playing outside, or during everyday summer fun.

👉 A concussion isn't “just a bump on the head.” It’s a traumatic brain injury that needs immediate attention.
🚨 After one concussion, the risk of another increases—and repeated injuries can be more serious.

Whether you're a parent, caregiver, or just keeping an eye on kids this summer:
🛝 Know the signs (dizziness, confusion, headache, memory issues)
🚲 Speak up and take symptoms seriously
☀️ Make sure kids get proper rest and recovery time

Summer should be full of fun—not preventable injuries. Stay alert and help keep kids safe wherever they play.

Distractions don’t just come from phones. Everyday things can take your attention off the road, too:
🐶 Pets moving around the vehicle
🗣️ Talking or interacting with passengers
🍔 Eating or drinking on the go
🎶 Adjusting music or playlists

These small moments can quickly turn into big risks. Staying focused behind the wheel means limiting all distractions—not just screen time. Safe driving is distraction-free driving. Let’s all do our part to keep our roads safe.

May is National Electrical Safety Month—know the warning signs of an overloaded circuit before it becomes a serious hazard.

What you can do:
📺 Spread out high-power appliances across different circuits
🔌 Unplug devices when not in use
❌ Avoid overloading outlets and power strips
💡 Have a qualified electrician inspect any ongoing issues

Don’t ignore the warning signs—your electrical system shouldn’t have to work overtime to keep up. Stay aware and keep your home safe.

☀️ Don’t Fry Day – Stay Sun Safe! The Friday before Memorial Day is recognized as Don’t Fry Day, designated by the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention to raise awareness about the dangers of UV exposure and the importance of protecting your skin.

As you head outdoors to enjoy the warmer weather, remember to protect yourself and your family—not just today, but every day.

🌤️ UV rays can damage your skin even on cloudy days. Take a few simple steps to reduce your risk and stay safe while enjoying the outdoors.

Planning to rent a boat this summer? A great day on the water starts with knowing the basics—and following the rules that keep everyone safe.

Before you head out:
🟨 Take a boating safety course so you understand navigation, right-of-way, and emergency procedures.
🟦 Know and follow all state boating laws—they’re there to protect you, your passengers, and others on the water.

Renting a boat should be about fun, not fines or emergencies. Be prepared, boat smart, and enjoy a safe summer on the water 🌊🚤

During National Safe Boating Week, we’re all for sunshine, good vibes, and coming back to shore with all your stories (and fingers and toes) intact 😄

⛴ Engine cut-off switches protect everyone onboard—think of it as your boat’s “off button for bad decisions.” Use yours every trip.
🚨 Life jackets only work when worn— every time you’re on the water (they’re not just stylish seat cushions).
⛵Most propeller injuries and fatalities are preventable!

Have fun, stay smart, and make waves for the right reasons.
