This is one way we could help change our utility bills. We, West Virginians, could have an opportunity to elect the Public Service Commission (PSC). In March, the discharge vote didn’t pass. The votes by the House of Delegates are shown in this picture/video. Thank you Jennifer for making and sharing this with us.

Oh, Charleston! It was so nice to have spent some time there this weekend.

The last two days went quickly, but I left Charleston inspired and energized to keep fighting for West Virginia. There were many of us in the room that shared stories, the good and the bad, and the most evident thing in the room was…… We all want the best for the people in West Virginia!

"Since 2011, 139 schools in West Virginia have closed, according to data compiled by researchers at the University of Michigan.

Many of those closures were driven by financial concerns, but University of Michigan professor Christina Weiland said the savings may be smaller than many people assume.

"The research is limited on how much money this saves, but the research that does exist suggests districts may save around 1% of their annual budgets," Weiland said.

She added that the long-term financial benefits are often minimal."

West Virginia families deserve better. That's why we're asking the legislature for a pause on school closures and creation of a stabilization fund. We need funding formula updates, more opportunities for community input, and, most of all, to protect the students who rely on public schools for meals, connection, and educational opportunity.
