Our libraries are hosting a Battle of the Books and you can submit your bracket NOW! The theme for this year is “Page to Screen." Participate by submitting a bracket and voting – either online or at your library. As a bonus, participants will have the chance to win one of our movie-night themed baskets!

We vote with our hearts here! Use whatever criteria you want to to cast your vote – even if you vote for a book you’ve never read. Some books also have multiple adaptations – vote on whichever adaptation you want, because the book is the real star.

The first session of our Knox History program filled in no time! We've opened up a second session, to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Please call, email, or stop in if you would like to attend.

Do you know where to find Slambang on a map? Can you find your way to Pickwick? Come learn about these local oil boom towns and more. Join Alex Huffman, Historical Interpreter for Drake Well Museum and Park, on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11:00 am. You will learn about the history of our area, from the beginnings of the Pennsylvania Oil Boom all the way to the disastrous fires that nearly erased the town of Edenburg. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER by October 10, 2026 by calling, emailing, or stopping at the library.

Since May 2026, Alex Huffman has served as the David L. Weber Research Intern at Drake Well Museum, researching the Clarion County Oil Boom with a particular focus on the boom towns of the Edenburg area. Alex has been researching the Pennsylvania Oil Boom for several years, and in 2024 he was an intern with the Friends of Drake Well. In 2025, he returned as a historical interpreter for the site and continues in this role today.

Congratulations to Alder B., winner of our Dinosaur raffle! For our next raffle, there will be TWO chances to win a “Blind Date With a Book” basket. Each basket contains a book (the title is a surprise!), stickers, a candle, lotion, a mug, tea, honey, a highlighter, note tags, a bookmark, and EITHER socks OR a book holder. Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased at the circulation desk anytime we are open. The drawing will be on October 31st—just as you’re getting ready to settle in for some cozy fall reading!

August 30 is Toasted Marshmallow Day! It was created by the National Confectioners Association and is a day to enjoy a sweet treat on one of the last days of summer. Marshmallows were originally discovered by the ancient Egyptians but they have come a long way since then! The recipe for S’mores, probably the most popular toasted marshmallow treat, was first published in the Girl Scout handbook in 1927. Celebrate by toasting marshmallows, trying a new marshmallow flavor, or making your own marshmallows!

You still have a few days to register for our Monarch Butterfly Tagging event! Gene Krasicki, Environmental Education Specialist with the Clear Creek Forest District, will be the presenter as we tag and release the butterflies. This event will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 11:00 at the Knox Public Library. Children and their parents are invited to become citizen scientists and learn about Monarch migration patterns and conservation efforts. Find out how you can support these efforts right in your own backyard!

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER before September 4, 2026 by calling, emailing, or stopping at the library.

We are raising the Monarchs right here at the library. Even if you can't make it on the 12th, stop in anytime we are open to see where they are in their life cycles!
