MYTH: They’re not the same! 👀🥫
A food bank is a central place where food is collected, recovered, stored, and distributed to organizations that help feed their communities. A food pantry distributes that food directly to individuals and families.
The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse is the only Free & Local food bank within 90 miles, and we work with about 120 food pantries, youth programs, and meal sites across 7 counties. 💚
So while food banks and food pantries work together to fight hunger, they each play a different role in getting food to our neighbors who need it. And we couldn't do it without each other! 🙌
