I was honored to attend the ribbon cutting for the new College of Southern Maryland Velocity Center this afternoon in Indian Head. This new center is a wonderful opportunity for CSM to take a significant step forward in its role as a leader in innovation and technology workforce development, here in the Southern Maryland region, and Hogan-Rutherford administration is proud to have provided significant funding through the Department of Housing and Community Development.

It's International Underground Railroad Month. Here's more information about Harriet Tubman, an abolitionist, activist, and conductor on the Underground Railroad.

Harriet Tubman's journey to freedom began on September 17, 1849, when she freed herself from slavery in Maryland and began a new life as an abolitionist, activist, and conductor on the Underground Railroad.

Tubman helped dozens free themselves from slavery on the Underground Railroad, and she also served the Union as a spy, scout, and nurse in the Civil War.

Her courageous actions shaped American history and set the stage for the Civil Rights and feminist movements.
