Readiness To Learn

Readiness To Learn Collaborating with the creative efforts of families, schools and community to enrich every child's readiness to learn.

Readiness To Learn is a partnership between family members, schools, and community organizations who share strengths and resources to create and sustain programs for children and families. We have provided coordinated services for children and families in Island county since 1998. We believe that people succeed based on their strengths and that all people need help at some point in their lives. Pr

ogram staff work in mutual respect with program participants. Our programs reach hundreds of community members every year, with services ranging from resource and referral, basic need items, coordinated family support, anti-racist education and school readiness.

Stress is a normal part of life, but as it builds up, it can start to affect your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Taking steps to manage stress can help you feel more balanced and better able to handle whatever life throws your way!

Simple ways to manage stress:
- Take breaks and get outside when you can!
- Stay connected with your friends, family, and community.
- Move your body; even a short walk can help.
- Practice deep breathing or mindfulness.
- If you can, limit news and social media when it starts to feel overwhelming.

If you need extra support, you’re not alone. There are resources in Island County to help you navigate mental healthcare: https://www.islandcountywa.gov/176/Behavioral-Health

If you or someone you know is struggling:
Call or text 988 for immediate mental health support.
Call 911 if you are in immediate danger.

Access to reliable, safe transportation is crucial to stability and wellbeing. That's why we're glad to help keep Island County friends on the road as part of the DRIVE Program! Thanks to a partnership with the WA State Dept. of Transportation, 95 people and counting have gotten help fixing cracked windshields, replacing failing tires, renewing expired tabs, and more. We so appreciate the generosity helping mobilize our community toward success. If you’re in Island County and could use some help, please visit oppco.org/drive to learn about our in-person application process (current round of applications is open through Feb. 13).
