This edition highlights some of the people, programs, and community partnerships that make the work of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office possible. We’re celebrating two members of our Civil Division who are marking 30 years of service, reflecting on the launch of our inaugural Citizens Academy, and sharing our $2,000 donation Assisting Lives Las Vegas-Our School Boutique.

We’re also looking ahead to October and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting the work of our Domestic Violence Unit and sharing information to help our community spot early signs of abuse, understand common misconceptions about domestic violence, and learn about available resources.

👕🎒Employees from all four divisions of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office came together to raise $2,000 for Assisting Lives in Las Vegas’ Our School Boutique.👕🎒

Each year, our office selects a local organization to support, and this year, our Juvenile Division suggested Our School Boutique. The program provides Clark County School District students in need with a week’s worth of brand-new clothing, shoes and a hygiene kit, all at no cost to their families.

Since opening in 1978, Our School Boutique has provided clothing to more than 181,000 Clark County students. Last year alone, more than 4,600 students received clothing and other essentials through the program.

What makes this organization especially remarkable is that Assisting Lives in Las Vegas is completely run by volunteers. Donations and funds raised go toward its philanthropic programs, helping ensure resources make their way back into the community and to the people who need them most.

We’re proud to support the volunteers who work year-round to help local students walk into school with the clothing, essentials and confidence they need to succeed. ❤️

⚖️ Night Two of our inaugural Citizens Academy gave our participants a closer look at the many steps that can go into a criminal case, with an evening packed with presentations from members of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Participants learned about the different levels of criminal offenses (felonies, gross misdemeanors and misdemeanors) presented by DDAs Alex Quagge and Chase Christensen. They also got an inside look at evidence gathering from Homicide Chief DDA Binu Palal and LVMPD Homicide Detective Edgar Nahum.

Chief DDAs Brianna Lamanna and John Torre walked participants through preliminary hearings, while Homicide Chief DDA John Giordani explained the Grand Jury process.

Through the Citizens Academy, we’re giving members of our community an opportunity to learn more about the people, processes and partnerships that make up our criminal justice system. ⚖️

⚖️🎓 Our inaugural Citizens Academy is officially underway! 🎓⚖️

We kicked off our very first Citizens Academy with an inside look at the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. Last night, our four Assistant District Attorneys/County Counsel went over our four divisions and how each plays a role in serving our community.

Participants also got a firsthand look at the makeup of a jury trial, learning more about the people and processes that come together in the courtroom to pursue justice.

We’re excited to spend the next several weeks giving our Citizens Academy participants a closer look at the work of the DA’s Office and the many people who help make our justice system work. ⚖️

After 30 years of dedicated service with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, Steve is beginning a well-deserved new chapter.

Throughout his career, Steve has dedicated himself to serving Clark County, upholding the law, and helping make our community a safer and stronger place. Three decades of public service represents an incredible commitment to the people of Clark County and to the colleagues he has worked alongside throughout the years.

We are grateful for Steve’s leadership, dedication, and countless contributions to our office and our community. His presence will be greatly missed.
