The Town of Laurel is participating in social media format - Facebook - to reach a broader audience, quickly disseminate information and interact with residents. Comments on the Town of Laurel's page are monitored and will be responded to during normal business hours (M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), during town events and during emergencies effecting our citizens.

The following content is prohibited and subject to removal:

g. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party;
h. Comments with website, email or Internet links of any kind;
i. Content that incites violence;
j. Photographs or videos;

When posting questions or comments, we as that you do not give our personal information such as home or email addresses, telephone numbers, credit card numbers, social security numbers, passwords, etc. You may contact us directly by sending a FB private message or phone 302875-2277, at which time you may be asked for personal contact information. Formal requests for information must still be submitted through the Town of Laurel FOIA process. Sussex County Returns Day is quickly approaching.

They are looking for 2026 parade entries.

There is no charge to enter the parade. Entries are open in these categories: float, marching band, individual or group marching, costume character, scout troop, equestrian, and antique marching. Entry deadline: October 31, 2026. Staging and formation details are sent after your form is received; lineup assignments by the committee are final. The Town of Laurel would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of John Shwed. John served as Mayor for the Town of Laurel from April 2003 until April 2025. John also served in many other organization that gave back to our community for many years.

The town will be lowing our flags in honoring the service of John Shwed as Mayor. Flags will be lowered Monday, August 2nd until Monday, August 9th .

We understand a post is in the Sussex Guide stating there would be a parade, however there will be no parade.
