Community Social Media Posting Policy

The Town of Laurel is participating in social media format - Facebook - to reach a broader audience, quickly disseminate information and interact with residents. Comments on the Town of Laurel's page are monitored and will be responded to during normal business hours (M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), during town events and during emergencies effecting our citizens.

Although online conversations on social media sites are often casual, they must remain respectful. We welcome this diversity, and ask that all of our participants adhere to these simple guidelines:

The following content is prohibited and subject to removal:
a. Comments that promote, foster, or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation;
c. Comments containing vulgar, offensive, threatening or harassing language, personal attacks or unsupported accusations;
d. Obscene or sexually suggestive or explicit content or links to obscene or sexual content;
e. Illegal activity or encouragement of illegal activity;
f. Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public or public system;
g. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party;
h. Comments with website, email or Internet links of any kind;
i. Content that incites violence;
j. Photographs or videos;
k. Personal information;

When posting questions or comments, we as that you do not give our personal information such as home or email addresses, telephone numbers, credit card numbers, social security numbers, passwords, etc. You may contact us directly by sending a FB private message or phone 302875-2277, at which time you may be asked for personal contact information. Formal requests for information must still be submitted through the Town of Laurel FOIA process. The Town of Laurel page is not intended to replace traditional forms of communication or the Town's website. Some links on our site may link to third-party sites. SAVE THE DATE: Join us at the Hitchens Homestead on the 4th of July as we celebrate America's 250th birthday, the restoration of the Homestead, and the completion of our new "Hitchens Barn" event venue! Homemade ice cream and cake will be available for purchase, and there's no better spot from which to watch the fireworks. 🇺🇸

The unveiling of the Laurel Public Library - Delaware story Walk, located in Market Square, Park. Thank you to the students of the Laurel School District for their participation and a huge thank you to the Library staff and teens who made this possible. A huge thanks to the Laurel Public Works Dept for installing the posts and frames.

Another year in the books , the 5th Annual Laurel Plein Air Paint Laurel Plein Air was a great success. Seeing Laurel through the eyes of 30 talented artists and watching our town come to life on canvas is always something special.

This year, over $2,000 in artwork was sold, supporting the artists.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers, organizers, and painters who dedicated their time and talent to make this event possible. Your hard work and creativity continue to make this one of Laurel’s most unique and enjoyable events each year.

The Fifth Annual Paint Laurel Plein Air will be held on Saturday, May 09, 2026 (rain or shine) in historic Laurel, DE. Registration is CLOSED. We look forward to hosting 30 regional artists in downtown Laurel, DE!

Water is Back On

NOTICE:

Water will be off tomorrow (April 16th) starting around 9 am. Areas effected will be the area of 10th Street to include the Ecema, fire department, Laurel Court , Wolfe Street and West Street, for a water main tie in. Water should back on around 11 am .
