The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Master Deputy Jorge Ramirez as the May Sworn Spotlight of the Month.
With 22 years of dedicated service, Deputy Ramirez has built a distinguished career marked by professionalism and commitment to public service. Throughout his tenure, he has served in the Court Operations Division and has also assisted the Civil Unit and the Jail Emergency Team (JET), gaining extensive experience in court security and public interaction.
Deputy Ramirez has completed specialized training and certifications, including Tactical Medic, Executive Protection Unit, Medical First Responder, and Field Training Officer (FTO). These qualifications have allowed him to serve in critical roles while mentoring and developing the next generation of deputies.
Deputy Ramirez is known for his exceptional response to medical emergencies. He consistently volunteers to assist during medical incidents, providing immediate care, assessing vital signs, gathering patient information, and relaying critical details to emergency medical personnel. His calm demeanor, thorough assessments, and ability to stabilize patients before EMS arrival have significantly improved emergency outcomes.
One notable example occurred during construction at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC) when a worker suffered a severe leg laceration resulting in significant blood loss. Deputy Ramirez immediately responded and applied a tourniquet that EMS personnel later confirmed was correctly placed and likely saved the worker’s life. This incident is just one of many examples that demonstrate his dedication, preparedness, and commitment to preserving life.
His experience in law enforcement has strengthened his communication skills, professionalism, confidence, and adaptability in high-pressure situations. Whether assisting the public, supporting court operations, or responding to emergencies, Deputy Ramirez consistently leads by example.
Looking ahead, Master Deputy Ramirez aspires to earn a promotion to Corporal to serve the agency in a leadership capacity.
