The PeaceLove Workshop: Gratitude Gardens is coming to the Gales Ferry Library! In this workshop, you’ll ‘grow’ a garden from all the things you’re grateful for, dedicating a space where you can take the time to appreciate these things, and display them for others. PeaceLove Workshops help teach children mental wellness, empathy, and to create connections with the people around them. The Nurturing Families team from L+M Hospital are certified to teach these amazing workshops and will lead the participants through the projects as needed.

🧑‍🍳Cookbook Club: There is no Cookbook club this July. The next meeting is Tuesday, August 4 at 12:30 P.M. at the Gales Ferry Community Center!

Seeds are bursting to life all over the state of Connecticut - are you curious about the elaborate science that goes on inside those tiny shells? The Ledyard Public Library is partnering with Cool-ology to bring us a STEAM Lab Adventure: Seeds Unleashed! Participants will learn all about the fascinating anatomy of seeds, explore how nature scatters them across the landscape, and plant their very own seeds in reusable containers to take home.

💐🎒STEM students from Gales Ferry & Juliet Long Schools have been busy planting 6 raised bed gardens, using seeds donated by the Ledyard Seed Library at Ledyard Library! Thanks to STEM teacher Heather Dalton, for sharing the students’ great work with us.

Pictured are 1st & 2nd graders who were planting marigolds and cucumbers, while the 4th graders constructed hoop houses! Other seeds used were zinnias & sunflowers.

On Tuesday, June 30th, Chef Erika will be hosting a program at the Bill Ledyard Library, where participants will learn important food safety information, knife handling skills, and basic nutrition, all from a professional chef.

🌊🎤Join us Wednesday, June 17th at 5:30 PM at the Bill Ledyard Library for a book talk with author Michael H. Graner as he discusses Marc Hung Nguyen's memoir "From Sea to Service."

The book recounts Nguyen's journey from a scared refugee escaping the Vietnam War to retiring as a Coast Guard Commander and serving on the Board of Directors for the Project Vietnam Foundation.
