Environment and weather can create conditions that affect air quality, increasing the risk of health conditions and complications in older adults.

But air quality alerts don't need to cause fear. With a few precautions and staying informed, older adults can safely navigate poor air quality while protecting their long-term health.

On Wednesday, we had the pleasure of spending an afternoon together at Crooked Hammock Brewery. Members, volunteers, staff, and board members, gathered for an afternoon of conversation, connection, and delicious food.

These gatherings remind us of the importance of connection. The first photo shows the story of a member and a volunteer who have been calling each other on the phone for months finally meeting in person for the first time. Moments like this are why we do what we do!

We're so grateful to everyone who made this afternoon possible!

In addition to giving tours to prospective marine studies graduate students at the University of Delaware, he volunteers for the Village about eight hours per week, enjoying the interesting stories members tell.

Are you a student in need of community service hours for the new school year?

Volunteer at Village Volunteers!

Volunteering with us is flexible, fun, and fulfilling. We offer a variety of ways to serve. You can take trash to the curb for someone who has trouble walking, pick up groceries for a member who doesn't drive, or just call them for a friendly conversation.

There's something for everyone, and training is provided. Visit our website or contact us to discover more ways you can serve!
