Heads up! There is a lot of confusion on what an "e-bike" is.. Before you go out an purchase something that cannot be driven legally, take a good look at the definition of what an "e-bike" is, and what an "e-moto" is. The first big tip is that all E-bikes have pedals. If you are driving something that doesn't have pedals, it's not an "e-bike". "e-motos" are Electric motorcycles (both off road and on-road), and are treated exactly like a gas-powered motorcycle (drivers license, insurance, license plates).

At least one Officer has already stopped an "e-moto" driving over 30 miles per hours down the sidewalk in Lindstrom. While the driver was stopped and educated, this is a serious violation, and could result in serious injury to both pedestrians, and the driver. Stay safe, and look before you buy.

Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week is an observance in the United States that pays tribute to the local, state, and federal peace officers who have died, or who have been disabled, in the line of duty. It is celebrated May 15 of each year.

In Minnesota, Every year on May 14th and 15th, since the memorial was first erected at the International Airport in 1977, officers from throughout the state stand guard duty around the monument. Officers stand in silent vigil for twenty minute shifts. At the conclusion of each officer guard shift the officer reads the name and end of watch date for each fallen Minnesota officer. All the while a LEMA Honor Guard Officer walks the Thin Blue Line. This LEMA Honor Guard officer is changed every 20 minutes with a precision rifle inspection by the Inspector of the Guard

This week we take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the fallen, who gave their lives for all of us

National Police Week is a reminder that the law enforcement community stands together through grief, remembrance and service.

This week, we honor the fallen officers whose sacrifice will never be forgotten and the families who continue to keep their memories alive. We also recognize the officers who continue to serve their communities each day, carrying that legacy forward. https://trib.al/5TAYDg3

Today kicks off the national campaign for seat belt enforcement, which runs through May 31. Extra patrols will be out.

Please buckle up. Even though most Minnesotans do, nearly one-third of all traffic deaths are from unbelted drivers and passengers.

Law enforcement can stop and ticket drivers AND passengers for not wearing a seat belt.
