Linden Hill is a historic estate on the banks of the Mississippi river in central Minnesota which is operated by the Friends of Linden Hill, Inc.

Linden Hill doesn’t take care of itself, and we are lucky to have such faithful and hardworking volunteers to help carry the load. ❤️ 💪🏻🍁

These volunteers are enjoying a quick snack and warm drink before heading back out for more fall cleanup.

From replacing lightbulbs and cleaning lampposts (there are dozens) to installing snow markers, hauling benches, draining hoses, stocking salt for the winter, and tackling what feels like an endless supply of leaves, there was plenty to accomplish before the season changes.

These are just a handful of the behind-the-scenes efforts that help protect the buildings, care for the historic grounds, and keep this a welcoming place for our community and visitors.

We’re so grateful for the volunteers shown here and many more not pictured who show up, roll up their sleeves, and tackle jobs both big and small.✨

🍁Volunteer Opportunity🍁 10/28/26

Fall cleanup is happening TODAY at Linden Hill and all are welcome to come lend a hand.🙌🏻

Beginning at 9AM, volunteers will gather to help put the grounds to rest for the season ahead.

Many tasks are on the list including: scrubbing graffiti, moving benches and statues to winter storage, changing lightbulbs, cleaning lamp posts, and so much more.

All ability levels are welcome - dress for the weather and plan to enjoy coffee and snacks afterward☕️

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Candlelight Tours & Edgar Allan Poe Experience this weekend at Linden Hill. 🕯️

Special thanks to the amazing tour guides, to Rick Converse for sharing some of his favorite Poe readings, and to all the incredible volunteers and staff who helped make this event possible.

We love carrying on Laura Jane Musser’s tradition of hosting Halloween gatherings, and hope she would approve!

🚨 UPDATE 10/23 🚨

All individuals have been identified thanks to your help! As a nonprofit caring for this historic city property, we work hard to keep Linden Hill a welcoming and wonderful place for all to enjoy.

Most of the paint was able to be scrubbed and power washed off after many hours of hard work, and we are working with law enforcement to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
