Start with an MVA Veterans Service Officer (VSO) to get the required Veteran Status Verification Form (VSD-001) before heading to a California Department of Motor Vehicles office near you.

Knowing how to support someone through a mental health challenge can have a meaningful impact on their well-being.

Staff with the LA County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Veteran Peer Access Network completed Mental Health First Aid USA training, building skills to recognize when someone may be struggling, respond with care, and connect them to the right support when they need it.

At this week's kickoff of the Great American Recovery Initiative in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles County MVA Director Jim Zenner spoke on a SAMHSA panel focused on Veteran Peer Support Access Across the Continuum. He highlighted Los Angeles County's Veterans Peer Access Network (VPAN) as an innovative model of community-based veteran peer support, driven by local government and delivered through community partners to help combat veteran homelessness and su***de.
