The primary goal of DPS is to provide a safe and secure environment in which the social and academic endeavors of the University community may be fully realized. 🚔 National Night Out 2026 🚒

Building stronger communities, one connection at a time. The USC Department of Public Safety was proud to join our Trojan community for National Night Out, alongside our partners at the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Fire Department.

From walking along the street with Mayor Karen Bass to meeting our neighbors, sharing smiles, resources, and safety information, tonight was a reminder that community and public safety go hand in hand.

Thank you to everyone who came out, connected with our first responders, and helped make National Night Out a success! And a special thank you to Council District 8, Adams-Normandie Neighborhood Association, and West-Adams Neighborhood Association for organizing this truly special event.

Together, we make our community safer and stronger.

USC’s Blue Light Emergency Phones provide a direct connection to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) 24-hour Communications Center. Whether you need emergency assistance, want to report suspicious activity, or are unable to describe your location, these phones help DPS respond as quickly as possible.

Some of you may have noticed a rider on a dirt bike traveling at high speeds through our campuses in recent months, creating a serious safety concern for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Today, we’re sharing an update on the coordinated efforts of USC DPS officers and our law enforcement partners to address this issue and help keep our community safe.

We may not have two suns like the planet of Tatooine, but temperatures are on the rise, and taking a few simple precautions can help prevent heat-related illness.

💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat when outdoors.
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
🕶️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
👥 Check on friends, family, neighbors, and pets to ensure they’re staying safe.

Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone loses consciousness, has a high body temperature, or is experiencing nausea/vomiting, call 911 immediately.

The USC Department of Public Safety is committed to helping keep our Trojan Family safe. Stay hydrated, stay cool, and beat the heat. ❤️💛
