Our 2026 Summer Campaign Leadership Academy has come to an end. Congrats to our graduates!🎓

From Monterey Park to Inglewood, 18 participants learned what it actually takes to run a successful campaign. These folks are preparing to run or lead on a campaign for everything from congressional races down to small city districts. Participants ended the program by presenting full campaign plans to campaign professionals for direct feedback. Three of them are already putting their learning it into practice — at least three are on November’s ballot, and at least one is currently a campaign manager.

Thank you to the incredible professionals who joined us as teachers and mentors.

We started the Campaign Leadership Academy because we want everyday Angelenos to have the knowledge and skills to step up and represent their communities. This is just the beginning. We’ll be seeing these folks on ballots this fall, in 2028, and beyond!🗳️

On Saturday, we came together for our second Westside regional gathering! 🌊🤩 In a time when politics too often pushes us apart, we spent the morning doing the opposite: finding what we have in common. We talked about the upcoming election and how we plan to plug into local campaigns💪

We are proud to announce our endorsement of Nithya Raman for Mayor of Los Angeles! 

When deciding who we support for the next mayor of LA, our members are clear: Nithya Raman won the support of 90% of LA Forward members who cast ballots in a vote with record-breaking turnout.

Raman has helped move LA toward a citywide unarmed crisis response system, spearheaded new protections for renters (even before new progressive colleagues joined her on council in 2022), co-authored the sanctuary city ordinance to protect immigrants, championed good governance reforms to reduce corruption and increase the effectiveness of government, secured a unanimous council vote for building electrification climate policy, and backed expanded transportation and mobility options. 

We see the Raman campaign asking the right questions and setting the right priorities. We’re impressed by Raman’s ambitious and detailed policy agenda. We’re reassured by the commitments she’s made to us personally for collaborative governance and coalition-building, including on issues where we don’t agree. 

For all these reasons and more, LA Forward is proud to join partners such as ACCE and City Controller Kenneth Mejia in endorsing Nithya Raman for Mayor.

Join is as we continue to build power in the West Valley!

We’ll be joined by special guest Barri Worth Girvan for City Council 2026, Candidate for LA City Council District 3 to answer community questions about the future of CD3. We’ll also discuss the importance of people power in elections and explore the many ways you can volunteer to help local campaigns and build a fairer, more flourishing city.

This event will be hosted at Shift Our Ways (SOW) Collective - Backyard Farms in Reseda, a community farm that provides locally grown organic produce, shared education, and access to safe green spaces for our communities. They’ll be sharing information about their collective and selling plants at the event. This event is free to the public but cash donations to support the work of SOW will be accepted onsite.

There are just around 90 days until election day 2026! 😱 How are you going to make a difference for your neighborhood this election season?
