Amvets Post 9 Louisville, KY The Amvets Post 9 has been in the Schnitzelburg Area for over 75 years!

AMVETS or American Veterans is a volunteer-led organization formed by World War II veterans which accepts honorably discharged veterans as members. AMVETS is one of the most respected volunteer-led organizations in the country that provides, not only support for veterans and the active military in procuring their earned entitlements, but also community services that enhance the quality of life for this nation's citizens.

Carl "Hank" passed peacefully on August 4. He is predeceased by his parents Louis D and Josephine (Bader) Oechslin, his wife Nancy (Williams), brother Louis "Ebb" Oechslin, sisters Mary Rose Blair and Carmel Wahl and nephew Greg Wahl. Carl was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, Bellarmine College, and served in the US Navy during the Korean war. He was a sheet metal worker and businessman who was known as "Mayor of Germantown" where he lived all of his years.

He is survived by his step children and grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews and by his great granddaughter Jessica who was his caretaker. Visitation is at Bosse Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 12, 2-8pm, funeral mass at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Thursday at 10am.

It is with great sorrow to announce that our good friend and Long Time Member, Hank Oechslin has died of his illness, injuries and time. A couple of decades ago, his kindness kept our Post 9 running when we were nearly broke and out of business. He will be missed and remembered always. Early info points to next Thursday the 13th, as his funeral. we are awaiting more info. Rest In Peace....
