2026 EMS Refresher registration is now open!

Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS will be hosting our 2026 EMS Refresher
November 9–13 at Galen College of Nursing in Louisville.

The refresher is open to EMS providers from surrounding agencies and will offer up to 30 hours of live continuing education throughout the week.
Space is limited to 30 participants per day.

Congratulations to Honor Guard Academy Class 2026-8. This week, AMFEMS and the National Honor Guard Academy conducted a multi-agency, multi-state Honor Guard Academy Class.

Thirteen honor guard members representing law enforcement, fire and EMS agencies from Alabama, California, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington participated in the class.

Over 4,000 proud alumni continue to live the mission of paying tribute to our fallen, representing their agencies during public ceremonies, and displaying our Honor, Dignity and Respect values.

MISSION: The National Honor Guard Academy (NHGA) is dedicated to developing and elevating the ceremonial knowledge and skill level of public safety honor guard units while reinforcing a sense of pride and compassion by upholding honor guard traditions with precise attention to detail.

Congratulations to all graduates and thank you for your service!

Preparedness starts before the call. Engine 40 members were on the river today completing weekly checks of Marine 30 and training on water-rescue maneuvers, because reliable equipment and regular practice help ensure we’re ready when every second counts.

Our primary response area covers seven miles of the Ohio River, from Cox Park to the Oldham County line, but public safety has no boundaries. We regularly collaborate with neighboring departments and may respond as far upriver as Westport when assistance is needed. It’s all part of our commitment to protecting the communities we serve.

Ongoing learning to better serve our community!

This week, four members of AMFEMS Community Risk Reduction attended the annual Code Administrators Association of Kentucky (CAAK) Fall Conference in Covington, where they collaborated and continued learning alongside code administration professionals from across Kentucky.

Opportunities like this help prepare our personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to continue delivering quality service to the residents we serve.

CAAK is a chapter of the International Code Council (ICC) and is recognized as a national leader among statewide code administration trade organizations. Our membership includes more than 650 building inspectors, fire officials, contractors, engineers, architects and others in related fields.

CAAK’s strategic mission is to advance the professionalism of code users by expanding CAAK’s membership base and loyalty, and by asserting the influence of the organization upon the adoption, use and efficient and effective enforcement of model codes.

Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS “pushes in” New Quint 33 into service
$1.6 million investment reflects commitment to community, tradition, and fiscal responsibility

Louisville, KY. (September 16, 2026) — Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS (AMFEMS) proudly marked the official placement of Quint 33 into service today with a traditional fire apparatus “push in” ceremony, celebrating both fire service heritage and the department’s continued commitment to firefighters and the community.

Chief Pat Walsh, members of the Board of Trustees, firefighters, EMS personnel, and community members gathered to recognize the addition to AMFEMS’ fleet, 2026 E-One 100’ Tandem-Axle Quint. The five-function fire truck will serve the Forest Springs neighborhood and surrounding areas in the district.

“This moment reflects the very best of our fire service tradition, honoring where we have been while investing in where we are going,” said Chief Walsh. “This new apparatus represents a proud commitment to our firefighters by providing them the modern, reliable equipment they need to serve safely and effectively. It is also a commitment to our community, which depends on us every day, and we are proud to continue building on that legacy of service.”

Quint 33, a $1.6 MM community investment, is the seventh new apparatus added to our fleet since the 2018 merger, which eventually brought five departments together to what is now AMFEMS; reflecting a strong long-term commitment to modernizing an aging fleet and improving the safety of our personnel and the communities in our district.

This multi-functional apparatus weighs about 70,800 lbs. and is equipped with latest safety, amenities and environmental protection features in the industry:
• 2,000 GPM pumping capacity
• 500-gallon integrated water tank
• 100’ vertical reach aerial ladder
• 141’ of ground ladders
• Enhanced safety features
• Latest EPA pollutant control system
The push in ceremony honors a long standing fire service tradition dating back to the horse drawn era, symbolizing community involvement, shared responsibility, and pride in service.
