First 5 Madera County aims to provide meaningful experiences to young children during the first five years of life when brain development happens most rapidly.

Research shows that the most dramatic brain development occurs during the first five years of life. First 5 Madera County was formed through the passage of Proposition 10, a 1998 ballot initiative which placed a 50-cent-per-pack tax on cigarettes to fund education, health, child care and other programs for expectant parents and children ages 0 to 5. Since then, we've invested over $20 million locally to meet our community's needs.

Who will they scare now? Your child will adore this Halloween classic for years to come!

- Add reflective tape to costumes so they’re easier to see.
- Make sure shoes fit and costumes are short enough so they don’t trip.
