Calling all girls and non-binary teens ages 13-18! Join us for a whole day of self-defense learning and discussion! We'll learn strikes, grab escapes, and ways to set boundaries that won't turn violent. We'll talk about intuition and how it works, how society slots us into little boxes, and where we're really in danger (versus when we only FEEL like we're in danger). There will be enough time to take a deep dive on students' questions too!

Tuesday, June 30, from 10am-4pm, at Art Hub in Cambridge.

Have you registered for Chimera's serpent module (named for the serpent part of a chimera)? Take this class to deal with multiple attackers, fight on the ground, and even turn down a significant other.

This class will cover:

Review of some basic techniques
What to do when you're pinned on the ground
What if there are multiple attackers?
How to set boundaries when you want to preserve a relationship

RCC's board and staff were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Johnson, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. Michael was a true leader, passionate advocate, and dedicated community member whose work impacted countless children, families, and organizations throughout Dane County. His commitment to creating opportunities and uplifting others leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire our community for years to come.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Michael's family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were impacted by his leadership.

A huge congratulations to RCC’s Natalie DeMaioribus, who became a certified instructor through the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation earlier this spring!

Natalie’s dedication, expertise, and passion for Empowerment Self Defense shine through in every Chimera class she teaches, helping participants build confidence, skills, and a stronger sense of personal safety. We are incredibly grateful to have her on our team and so proud of this accomplishment.

Join us in celebrating Natalie Demaioribus becoming an NWMAF Certified ESD Instructor! 🥳🥳🥳

Natalie is an expert facilitator, energetic and hands-on, with 11 years of experience teaching empowerment self-defense and a great sense of humor. Before coming on board to run the self-defense program at RCC Sexual Violence Resource Center in Madison, Wis., she logged over 650 hours as a volunteer on their helpline. Natalie has a background in mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu jitsu. She is a member of the Geological Society of America and loves languages, cooking, and cats.

The Domestic and Sexual Violence Coordinated Community Response Team is seeking new members! When you join the team, you’ll work to improve domestic and sexual violence policy and services in Dane County and serve to advise the Dane County Commission on Sensitive Crimes.
