💛 Community Member Highlight: Pauly

A special shoutout to Pauly from Pauly's Painting, who donated 25 backpacks during the Hansen Home Team Backpack Event this past week! 🎒👏

Pauly owns a home improvement business where he helps homeowners refresh and transform their spaces. He brought that same spirit of care to local families by making sure 25 students have a new backpack for the school year.

We’re so grateful for community members like him who show up, give back, and help make a difference in our community.

As families settle into stable housing, help us stock our closet with everyday cleaning essentials to help them keep their spaces comfortable and cared for. 💛

The Road Home Dane County joins our community in grieving and processing the tragic loss of a Black community member following an encounter with law enforcement. We recognize the pain, grief, and uncertainty this moment has created, and we extend our care and compassion to everyone who has been impacted. As an organization committed to creating a community where every family has access to safety, stability, and belonging, we know moments like this affect us all.

We know this loss is not experienced in isolation. It comes amid ongoing conversations about racial inequity, safety, and the systems that continue to impact Black and Brown communities. We stand with our community in acknowledging the weight of this moment and the many emotions it brings.

At The Road Home, we remain committed to walking alongside the families we serve and creating spaces where people feel supported, heard, and valued. We will continue listening, learning, and showing up with compassion for our families, our staff, and our broader community.

We encourage everyone to take care of themselves and one another during this difficult time. Together, we can continue working toward a community where every person has the opportunity to feel safe, supported, and a true sense of belonging.

200 Backpacks and Care Tote Kits for Families in Our Community ❤️🤝

This week, incredible volunteers from Serve Boldly and the African Center for Community Development, Inc came together to assemble 200 backpacks and care tote kits for families in our community. Every backpack packed and every tote organized is one less thing a parent has to worry about as they prepare their children for a new school year.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and helped make this possible.

Behind the conversations around housing, affordability, and homelessness are real families working hard and navigating challenges many people don’t always see.

An unexpected expense or life change can quickly impact a family’s stability, which is why support, resources, and community matter so much.

Natalie Eilbert: With more than a third of Dane County households barely scraping by, this is nothing short of a massive policy failure. We must demand reform.

💙 We're Taking a Short Break 7/2 - 7/6

The Road Home Dane County will be closed for a staff recharge through July 6.

This time gives our team the opportunity to rest, reconnect, and return refreshed so we can continue supporting families in our community with the care and compassion they deserve.

We'll reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, July 7.

🎒 100 backpacks prepared to support children and families this school year.

Serve Boldly from New Ulm, Minnesota stepped in to help by organizing and sorting school supplies for backpacks supporting families in our programs. Their team also donated additional supplies to help ensure children have the tools they need to start the school year feeling supported and prepared.
