Cherokee Heights Middle School is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing all students with a strong curriculum, leadership, and support. The countdown to the 2026–2027 school year is on! Starting August 5, MMSD families can complete online enrollment for students in all grades.

Returning to MMSD or joining us for the first time? The enrollment process is simple and fully online.

Don’t forget—every student must be enrolled every year. Complete enrollment for each child and get ready for another great year with MMSD!

It’s almost time to enroll for the 2026–2027 school year! Online enrollment opens August 5 for all MMSD students in every grade.

Whether you’re a returning family or new to MMSD, you can complete the entire enrollment process online from wherever you are.

✨ Incoming 4K families: You can enroll now! 4K enrollment is already open, so there’s no need to wait until August 5.

Remember: Every student must complete enrollment each school year. Be sure to enroll each child for the upcoming school year.

🚨All MMSD & MSCR summer programming for students will be canceled on Friday, July 17🚨

Smoke from wildfires in Canada and Minnesota is expected to continue to reach Unhealthy (Red) to Hazardous (Maroon) air quality levels through noon on Friday, July 17. Because of this, and due to rising temperatures, all MMSD and MSCR summer programming for students will be canceled on Friday, July 17.

🎒MMSD summer programming courses for elementary, middle and high school students, including virtual courses
🎒MMSD/MSCR Summer Recreation & Enrichment Center and Youth Resource Center programs
🎒MSCR summer camps & community programs
🎒MMSD athletic practices and programming
🎒Access to all MMSD buildings and grounds, including for staff

Summer meals will continue to be offered at MMSD’s comprehensive high schools. Please locate the high school nearest your usual meal service site for continued summer meal service.

Just like that, our 8th graders are off to high school! 🎓We have cherished the past three years together and have loved watching each of you grow, learn, and become the amazing young people you are today. While we're sad to see you go, we're excited to see all that you'll accomplish in the years ahead!

Today, we welcomed back Madison West High School seniors who once attended Cherokee Heights! It was wonderful to reconnect, celebrate their accomplishments, and hear about their plans for the future. We are so proud of all they have achieved and can't wait to see the impact they continue to make in the years ahead!

¡Hoy les dimos la bienvenida nuevamente a los estudiantes de último año de West High School que asistieron a Cherokee Heights! Fue maravilloso volver a reencontrarnos, celebrar sus logros y escuchar sus planes para el futuro. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de todo lo que han alcanzado y nos emociona pensar en el impacto que seguirán teniendo en los años venideros!

We're wrapping up the school year with lots of learning and celebration! 🎉 Students in Ms. Kempinen's class completed their Latin America unit and celebrated with a potluck, while students in Ms. Lumani's class showcased their learning by presenting newscasts inspired by Farewell to Manzanar. To top it all off, everyone enjoyed cooling down with a refreshing Kona Ice on a warm day! ☀️🍧

¡Estamos cerrando el año escolar con mucho aprendizaje y celebración! 🎉 Los estudiantes de la clase de la maestra Kempinen terminaron su unidad sobre América Latina y lo celebraron con una comida compartida (potluck), mientras que los alumnos de la clase de la maestra Lumani demostraron lo aprendido presentando noticieros inspirados en Farewell to Manzanar. ¡Para cerrar con broche de oro, todos disfrutaron de un delicioso Kona Ice en un día caluroso! ☀️🍧
